Was wondering how well Rosetta Stone works for learning a language like Japanese. I have learned several languages in the past, but they have all been in a classroom setting.

Also if there is something that compliments such a program lemme know :l

Rosetta Stone? If you want to be a baka gaijin who can only understand "The man is standing on the old house", sure. Find something that teaches Kanji. Learn Kanji like a motherfucker.

It's terrible for Japanese.

Well I plan on studying abroad a year, that tends to be the way to really make everything permanent .....Didn't get better at any languages til I went abroad

Rosetta Stone sucks. Someplace to learn grammar and a good dictionary are all you need.

Yeah but to be honest I really only have a couple others every once in a while to learn, cause I am takin 21 hours and working at least another 20 at fuckin dead end r' us

So I feel my choices are somewhat limited to what I can do

What is the name of that program that you input kanji into and it reminds you at a specifically-calculated date to study it? It's based on some psychological theory that there's a set time where you will forget something and it's best to study right at the interval before that happens.

At that point, I'd say fuck it and spend what little free time I have doing something enjoyable, not learning a language.

Yeah I mean I understand flash cards work really well for learning a language like this, because when I was learning chinese (which I am still terrible at, but don't feel like continuing.) the only way to go was writing it all over and over, and quizzing each other with flash cards
