All right, I'm having issues. My brand new computer won't play Aika on the lowest graphics setting for more than 5 minutes without lag issues. My roommate checked it out and it's a graphic rendering problem. My old computer downstairs runs it smoothly with absolutely no issues and has a worse/older graphics card, processor, everything.

What in god's name is going on? The game is absolutely unplayable on a newer machine with a better graphic's card? The only thing I can think of is my new machine has Windows 7 and downstairs is running XP.

If anyone has information on graphics issues that may help. Otherwise I'm scrolling through the Aika forums and going to run a virus scan.

I've tried absolutely everything I can think of to clear my graphic's problem. Uninstalled drivers, reinstalled drivers, run virus scans, run spyware checks, changed all the game settings and back to default again.

5 minutes of clear gameplay followed by 20 minutes of 5 frames a second followed by 5 minutes of clear gameplay rinse and repeat.

My old computer has problems with overheating and crashing so it's hardly a viable solution.

Is anyone else running Windows 7 (64 bit)?

I think I'm going to have to make a forum account and post about my problem there though it's likely to be ignored.

Reading up on Vsync, it looks like problems happen when your graphic's card is far better than your monitor and overwrites frames onto your screen before your screen can handle them which causes 'tearing' so Vsync kicks in and tells the graphic's card that it can't draw a frame until the monitor has gone through a refresh cycle. Problems with Vsync happen when the graphics card is running a game with better graphics than it can handle lowering the frame rate to below that which the monitor can draw. Then the graphic's card is forced to waste time waiting for a screen refresh when it doesn't need to effectively cutting your frame rate in half.

I don't think Aika has such awesome graphics that my graphics card can't handle it and lowers the frame rate to below the monitor refresh rate. Besides it doesn't happen on my old computer, once again, with a much worse graphics card. I'm going to hold off on that solution unless I get desperate because in this instance I'm pretty sure the graphics card is above the ability of the game and removing Vsync would just cause more problems than solve. Thanks for the suggestion though, I learned something.

What's the best way to level?

Had 2 people walk up to me and ask if I was botting because I spent 2 hours standing in front of two monsters that would respawn one after the other, spamming Shock ball and Fireball

I find best way to level is to do quests, always grab as many quests as you can so that you spend the minimum time running around. also use waypoint scrolls and your return spell wisely to cut down running time.

sometimes you will have 3 quests that require you kill munta kubaris, raging kubaris and kubaris(diferent drop) so it saves time like that.

also try to do the lower level quests first that way the drops will be a decent rate and you wont feel like a faggot.

I was going to play this. But I just quit WoW like January 22nd and I didn't want to get into another big epic MMO. The temptation of playing with /jp/ was pretty overpowering, but then I realized I'd have to be in a crappy secondary guild, and that pretty much killed it for me.

All that Aika threads did was make me start thinking about playing *other* games; I already play WoW but I was getting burned out. Now playing Atlantica again after quitting for about 1.5 years, also messing around on the Earth and Beyond emulator, and reinstalled Pangya. That Fallen Earth game people posted in previous threads looked interesting but since it's p2p I'd have to quit WoW first.

I already played Mabinogi when that was the thing to do here, and that made me lose all interest in playing games with /jp/.
