Ran. Just by becoming her shikigami you're magnitudes stronger than pretty much anyone who starts practicing magic on their own or under a magician. She has the most to offer out anyone and is best suited for teaching a student, given her intelligence. She's even passionate about what she knows (math mostly but magic too) so that makes her even better. She's also the easiest one to approach in my opinion. She pretty casually offered Aya to become her shikigami to see what it's like. I just need to ask her or better yet offer her some fried tofu and she'd take me in just for the novelty of it. She's also drop dead gorgeous and probably wouldn't be afraid to flaunt it as she teaches me.

Plus if you become really good friends with him he might make you your own magical artifact which is nice.

He also calls Marisa's dad "human whom I had received hospitality from long time ago" so maybe it would be really easy to become friends with him if you are nice.

From Suwako and Kanako. As goddesses, they naturally have a whole range of magic up their sleeves, from the simple stuff to the really tricky spells. Being the eldest brother in a working-class family, I'm pretty handy around the house, cooking, cleaning and all that. I can help out at the shrine when I have some free time. And hey, I've always been very good with the elderly. Perhaps that'll let me get closer to the two goddesses. And if they like me enough…who knows? Maybe they'll even marry Sanae off to me.

Though I doubt I'm capable of pulling it of, the following is what I would attempt to go for as magician. I would also make it my theme similarly to how Alice is a doll magician.

Have you guys read JJK?

SPOILERS FOR THE MANGA AHEAD

Well anyways I would attempt to recreate of one of it's characters, Hiromi Higuruma, via magic. Which would mean a Spell that creats a courtroom, where commenting any type of violence is made impossible, in which the prosecutor (me) and the defeated (the spells target) will hold a trail in front of an impartial judge whose final judgment and punishment if found guilty are absolute.

I would also attempt to create a hammer whose damage scales off of evil and unlawful deeds of those targeted by it as well as a suit that reduces damage that also scale off of unjust deeds but that would be more of plan B.

It rather unlikely to I could actually do it but who knows maybe I have a hidden talant for magic or my delusions are strong enough for me to prevail.

Shes a teacher yes, but shes a japanese teacher, you know, Japan, the country with abysmal understanding of english to the point of being meme worthy, a country where they import gaijins to teach english and to teach english only, and Gensokyo, being a magnet for weird mostly japanese things, its safe to assume that everyone and their mothers there are japanese and dont know english.
Although I like Keine so for the sake of the argument lets cut her some slack and assume that she does somehow knows english.
>Is it really assuming were all MC's If I say that if you were brought to Genysoko it would be with a purpose and for a reason.
What IS that reason though, because as far as Im aware there are only 3 reasons you may end up in Gensokyo; 1, you noclipped the wrong way and ended there, be it in Muenzuka (big RIP) or Reimus, 2, youre forgettable and were selected to have the honor of being used as Youkai food, or 3, you for some reason catched Yukaris attention (dont cite me on that one, I dont remember where I heard that).
And I dont know about you, but I dont think people there would care that much to teach you stuff, you would have to fence your way through mostly alone, unless we count Kosuzu, in that case things might be easier.

buy stolen books from marisa after slaving away in the rice fields for years and learning japanese, i guess

if by some miracle of whatever god is feeling benevolent i get a job at the SDM without being bled out in the freezer, i guess i could try and build a relationship with patchouli to be able to read from the library too. i hope maths and basic engineering knowhow is in some way translatable to magic because otherwise i'm stuck as a human in a preindustrial shithole and i'm not going to last too long

what, you wanted me to find a teacher? who is a random outsider even supposed to ask? seiga? not into necrophilia or becoming a revived corpse, so no. marisa? she's a prodigy and is probably god awful at teaching. mima? dream on... as much as i'd love to live in makai it's probably impossible because it requires being already insanely powerful to not die on the spot, so unless you plan on somehow becoming a hermit yourself without dying of old age, by i guess some fluke in finding senkai, you're shit out of luck. this is all assuming i arrive near the village in one piece without being dumped in muenzuka like the rest of the shmucks

Marisa might actually have some language proficiency, at least reading(probably from books or something) considering she partially understood a book in Esperanto.
Aside from that I would expect most of the EoSD to talk English. My headcanon being is that Fran has some aged as fuck English that she might use when she talks just to Remi.
And I guess there's Kosuzu but that would be limited to only her reading what you write.
There's also foreign youkai getting into Gensokyo in the past and characters using random English here and there like in spellcards and fairy names, so maybe the level is around modern Japan.
Would be funny if some youkai like Letty or Wriggle could actually talk English, Rumia Polish and Mystia German but that's all just my bs speculation.

Be got killed because the method he used killed the villager that read his book and stopped believing in it so he could be born out of the lack of belief, in addition to upsetting the "balance" of human to youkai ratio. He took out two humans with his act on the surface, but he technically achieved chim and had to be put down. THAT is why.

So anybody wanting to be anything other than human villager in Gensokyo needs to do it BEFORE getting into Gensokyo, which increases the problem.

The other Ranfag put it well. If you went with Yukari then it's not a complete wash. Old lady is asleep during the winter. There's plenty of time for nightcrawling later, and it's not like the fox has anything else better to do for killing time.
Besides, you really think Yukari is going to keep up with the game? She'll teach you for a little while then get bored and dump responsibilities onto Ran like she always does. Ran would make for a far more diligent teacher than Yukari would anyway. While you would get some value out of any teachings on esoteric boundary knowledge, Yukari's already taught Ran the tricks of the trade. So long as you yourself put in the effort to study and practice she wouldn't have any issues. Luck is a major part of magic and good luck makes up for deficiencies elsewhere, and if you've gotten Gappy to take you in on a whim then you've got potential. Becoming a Shikigami would substantially increase your power, and with Ran you'd dabble in Taoism and get a lot of experience with the Onmyoudou style of things with divination, seals, and obviously handling Shikigami. Getting in Ran's good graces is as easy as reducing the workload of housekeeping and being reliable to do things when asked. Being someone she can talk to comfortably and lending a listening ear also helps.
Before you know it, it's late at night, Chen is out late playing with Orin in the underground, Yukari is having her old lady hibernation nap, and you two have nothing better to do than sit under the kotatsu sipping through sake and eating fried tofu. By this point you would've gotten close over the months of training, sharing chores, and shopping with her. You get to talking and the conversation slides into complaining, she slips out some deep rooted feelings and vents her frustrations. Centuries of loneliness and servitude made her write off any chance of love; but, greased with alcohol and fine company she's only now warming up to the idea. You better take responsibility, you don't know the depth of what you released.

I'm running D&D sessions in the library. Remilia and Flandre love it.

Now the real question: What classes do all the ladies play, and why?

Meiling: Monk
Sakuya: Bard/Rogue
Patchouli: Wild Magic Sorcerer/Evocation Wizard
Flandre: Barbarian?
Remilia: ???

>> No.46574899

Flandre wouldn't be allowed to play because she'd rage too hard when her character fails a saving throw, and Remi would play a ranger

Would Remilia fit better as a Fey Wander Ranger, you think?

And Flan can play-she's a big girl that can take danmaku outside to settle whatever with whoever. As long as she's getting a good fight in the game she won't care and we can always fudge rolls as the DM. Besides, with all of the ladies in the mansion playing, they're getting rule of cool'd. You couldn't use actual by the book except with Patchouli.

Yukari shouldn't get too much out of hand. She claims to keep you only for herself but keep playing with the fox like that and she'll eventually find out. Ran will, along with any other contingency she can think of, find solutions. The answer is fairly simple, you'd say: "Shikigami are nothing more than tools to be made use of, having sex with Ran is no different than masturbating with an onahole or doll." The confidence from which you speak—drilled into you through practice—will convince Yukari that it must be true. After all, Ran is just an extension of herself. Yukari can now sleep soundly knowing that the raucous sex on the other side of the wall is loveless and nothing more than you relieving your male urges.

You misunderstand. In Taoist practice, the apprentice is supposed to learn from the master through observation and self-study. It wouldn't do for the apprentice to simply imitate the master; he or she needs to find their own way. Miko's "using you as a wagie" is simply the price you pay for being able to study her (plus accommodation and whatnot) and creating an opportunity for your to do so. Your own way is still yours to find.
