Last time someone made the case that Sanae was a generic (retro) JRPG tier protagonist the only argument that was made in defense of her lackluster personality was that she was a good contrast to Reimu's unique (anti-hero) personality. Well, there you have it folks. Sanae only exist to contrast the main character. If Reimu didn't exist Sanae wouldn't have a point. She would just be yet another generic peace loving Mary Sue. As mentioned before, her design is ugly, her plot is copypasta of Reimu, and her goody-two-shoes personality is been there done that.
