The size of a katana can vary a lot considering the period it was made, craftsmanship, etc. However, there's at least an average that you can base upon to get for a close approximation when it comes down to pic related.
While the blade ranged between 60-80cm, the average itself was 75cm, and in total counting the tsuka, hilt in this case, roughly around 100-110cm as the hilt size would be around 30cm.
The japanese blades have a measurement system called nagasa, yes even when the blade may be curved, which is easily solved by measuring it through a straight line from tip to the metal collar, which then uses the shaku system that is also nothing too fancy either, it's pretty much taking into account the size of the hilt and using as the measurement for the rest of the blade, to a japanese swordsmith. 1 shaku equals roughly around 30.30cm (11.93 inches for burgers)
And here's how it applies to the list of japanese swords:

What I did when i calced Ran's height for one of the games was using Rinnosuke as a point of reference.
