Beato never really existed. She exists in the meta, so what? She doesn't exist in the real world, you know, the one that matters?

I think we can all tell that the only end we can get now is Battler going back to his world, his memories erased and Beato will disappear with the meta world/live in it for all eternity.

Are you aware that your brain can not tell the difference between things you conjure up and reality, right? There's no automatic sorting process going "real, not real, real, cartoon, etc.". I always assumed that Bernkastel's "miracle" that brought Erika to Rokkenjima was getting her to jump off the ship. She is experienced at getting people to jump off things.

Hypothetically there is a "truth" board where Erika does, in fact, exist. It actually may be more likely that she's a personality or something stupid like that than a person though.

In all likelihood, Furudo Erika jumps off the boat every time, but only in the fifth and sixth games did she make it to the island, thanks to Bernkastel's assistance (which the Game Masters of both games allowed). In effect, the Game Master is allowed to write another person into the game if the circumstances allow for it. For example, if there had been evidence that Erika had drowned elsewhere, she wouldn't be usable as a game piece.

Erika's existence is pretty simple to understand.
She is a young girl who drowned near the island just before the accident.
Her body was never found.

Now considering that the huge Rokkenjima's incident happened just after, and that this incident managed to destroy every bodies throughously, it's "possible" that Erika could have managed to reach the island and was one of the victim of the incident that happened after.

It probably didn't happen, but it exists within the realm of possibility.

Now, the various games of Umineko are fictions that tell "what if" stories about what happened in Rokkenjima.
And since Erika could have existed there, she can be used.

For her personality, it's also pretty simple, all other characters have a preset personality.
But Erika is completely "blank", nobody know what her personality is, what she can do.
Therefore Bern could use her as a literal Mary Sue, giving her all these nifty detective ability and the devious personality who could help her solve the mystery.

Although I'm still a little bugged by the question of what red text, if any, has to do with what actually happened on Rokkenjima? If it is none it would make it nearly impossible to find the truth. If it is ALL of it it raises some serious questions and contradictions.

I've kind of been thinking the same thing.

I think that's because that's what I first thought and so it's hard to shake it off. Like reading Beatrice as "Bee-a-triss" instead of the Italian pronunciation. That's how I first read it, so that's how it sounds in my head.

GOOD END: Meta-Battler leaves the meta-world, but doesn't quite remember Beato when he's back in the piece/real world. Then he gets off of Rokkenjima, meets a ~strangely familiar~ girl with golden hair and whatnot, and bam, shipping.

TRUE END: Meta-Battler leaves the metaworld, always feels like he's forgetting something really important after the conference on Rokkenjima, never completely moves on with his life because of how strong that feeling is.
