I personally never liked Sakura Miku much. Her design is just too bland. Her clothes, hair and skin all kind of blend together. Miku's standard design offers much better contrast, with blue hair highlighting her futuristic, synthetic nature and giving off a sense of calmness and coldness against her bright blush and radiant smile.

I know that true "otakudom" is inseparable with merch but what's the consensus of using it? I just got my PinoP stuff delivered and I got some keychains/rubber straps so I could change out my old ones from 10y ago, but I'm now considering If it'll be worth dirtying/damaging them. The acrylic keychain was an obvious no-go but considering the treatment keys get, I feel the rubber ones would get pretty worn out from the abuse. The "get 3" rule unironically seems like a better idea the more stuff I get. How do you even display keychains?

There is no right way to use merch. Some people prefer to keep their stuff pristine and locked away, others prefer to show it off and use it. It depends on how much you value either aspect of it.

Personally, I display my figures out of the box, use all of the stuff I buy whenever I can, and don't worry about it. When my keychains for example get worn out or break, it's sad, but at the same time I got to use it and enjoy it and it served its purpose. Plus I have other keychains I can now use and enjoy, and I'm buying more merch in the future anyway.

the last time i bought any wearable merch was a yuki mikudayo keychain
i didn't even have it 24 hours and i lost it. whether it was lost or stolen it was stolen because it was at a convention and whoever picked it up just kept it when the hotel had a lost & found which i went to and plenty of valuables were turned in by good samaritans just not my mikudayo keychain and i'm still upset about it

maybe consider locking the part that breaks open so it doesn't fall off, and try to find a way to laminate it somehow so it stays clean

i used to just save the HTML document of my playlists. once a month or so. make sure the entire playlist is loaded first. just hold the End key until you reach the end of the page then file > save

If I let myself get into it, I can pretty easily tear up listening to vocaloid. It isn't just the sad songs, either. It took a while but, as I grew up, I more and more started getting more thinking about how Miku (or whoever for that matter) is really trying her hardest and how I should be trying hard too. Well, no matter what crypton does they will stay on top. They do not have to chase every trend. There is too much inertia behind Miku, they won't be outpaced like that.
I read some stuff about how crypton doesn't want to use AI tuning because it doesn't sound as good as what you can do with Vocaloid/NT. Dunno how much of it is speculation and how much is actual confirmed info though. I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually release some update like that, but no matter what they do, they are pretty much guaranteed to stay for long. Kizuna AI, vtubers, and all the other shit comes and go, but Miku has planted roots deeply into otaku culture and people will continue to make her sing, even if they had to use V2.

singularity is nerd rapture garbage. but yes, we are basically at the point where a well tuned AI voicebank is indistinguishable from an autotuned human singer. Honestly vocaloid was there years ago with a few songs but it was a LOT harder to tune them well. Something that stunned people like Freely Tomorrow would hardly be impressive today.
Within the decade we'll hit the point where AI vocals are indistinguishable from actual human singing voices and we'll also be in a place where achieving that takes much, much less skill than it used to or currently does.

At that point it all comes down to good ideas, composition and putting a cute, visually distinct miku as your thumbnail.

I seriously have no idea, Crypton has just as many shit voicebanks as they have good ones, actually maybe the proportion is more 2/3 bad 1/3 good. I don't have any faith in them in regards to NT anymore, these vbs have been in development for years and they only use them in proseka, and the only NT vb that sounds remotely decent in the game is Len. Not even Miku sounds right.

I don't doubt people will still be using V4x Crypton loids in 5 years or maybe more. They kinda don't need to do anything cause the characters' popularity will carry the outdated voicebanks.

Honestly, 2022 might still be my favorite MM edition especially with tracks like Future Eve, Because you're here, Hatsune creation myth or Bless your breath... Let's also add Someday'z coming which might be one of my favorite Luka tracks of all time and the inclusion of classics like Next Nest, Decorator or Odds & Ends but 2023 isn't too far behind and Hero was just the perfect way to end the show, like you said 2023 had great crowd energy which is absent from the 2022 edition but i still like 2022 slightly more overall.

Their characteristics really are pretty different. One thing is that while V3 is smoother, part of the reason why V1 was so versatile is due to how rough sounding it is. A lot of producers end up using V3 without discarding V1 because it's just hard to replicate the V1 voice. Applies to MEIKO too, to a lesser extent.

Really love this producer, rainyday/Cafe Rainbird. Most of it is just Luka and piano but some have nice simple instrumentals too.
