im german, and i just went to see a doctor who is an immigrant from a middle eastern country. his german is actually incredibly good, he must have studied a lot. but when i told him that i used to live in [city] (i dont want to dox myself but its one of germany's largest cities), he said he doesnt know where that city is.
it made me internally go lol lmao, because hes so fluent you would think he's lived here his whole life, but he doesnt even know basic geography of germany.

yes. deliberately took and added something that isn't naturally there or a natural part of something already. think a bit like "to shoehorn"

Nowdays i still reference Dictionary of japanese grammar - all 3 volumes

I also read Jay Rubin's Making Sense of Japanese twice, it's an incredible book and about 1000 times better than Coom Dolly (who ripped it off)
