With Nekonyan releasing Tenshi Souzou in January, Iroseka in February and, assuming they manage to release it, Aoi Tori in March is there really anything left in their backlog that people want? Shinsou Noise maybe? Everything either looks mediocre or has already been translated.

Iroseka is probably the only one of those they have any real control over the release date of those three (once its through Steam review at least, seems like it would have been December had the review finished). Tenshi Souzou is a combo with Hikari Field (and Yuzusoft is likely going to be pushing for it to release ASAP as well considering the long tails of the other Yuzusoft titles, Senren Banka managed 1,444 concurrent users today) and their hand being forced on Aoi Tori.

I wish a more concentrated effort could be displayed toward kinoge and kamige but unfortunately, EOPs really do love their 120min-240min nukiges which they instantly uninstall after completion. It's just a damn fucking shame. If you're going down the nukige route, at least TL Atelier stuff and if not that, why not do things like focus on Evil woman executive?

As an EOP I prefer the lengthier oriented nukige with more scenes, interesting situations, or just generally higher quality than the short stuff. Such as? Please give examples because i think this is a good conversation to have.
>EOPs really do love their 120min-240min nukiges which they instantly uninstall after completion.
Nothing wrong with short VN's being translated as they usually do not take from the lengthy VN's at all. Plus the recommendations i made earlier are just scenario's that i think is interesting and has not been done before. I mean literally when has there been a VN where a woman steals the MC away from another woman translated? It's nonexistent.
>TL Atelier stuff
You mean Atelier Kaguya? Because if you do i have mentioned https://vndb.org/v28731 a few threads back about it. There is some good content behind their catalog worth going into.
>why not do things like focus on Evil woman executive
I think this has been done a few times actually. Great Deciever by Empress is an example. Unless you have a specific scenario you like.
>>45685784
I can agree with that. I am not saying companies should abandon all of those licenses from them and focus only on short VN's. But just license a few here and there to prevent dead months. Also the appeal of short length VN's for someone is it caters to more specific scenarios that people can buy for an experience that is worth 10-12$ overall. If you are not that type it does make sense that the payoff is not worth it.

NTA, but I read through Akuma de Oshioki recently, and a ~30 hour, multi-route nukige w/plot like that that he's saying companies should go after would be just an insane amount of work. Each h-scene is a few hundred lines, a good part of which is sound effects that don't transliterate well into English. And there are easily 50+ of them. Blowjobs and scenes where the heroine/MC has something obstructing their mouth would be especially difficult, you'd have to actually listen to the audio and puzzle out what they're trying to say, since the text is basically useless. The humor was surprisingly sophisticated too, which while enjoyable, also adds to the difficulty. And on top of that, there's all the weird fetish stuff, which makes a game like that basically impossible to market in the places where it can actually find an audience big enough to recoup the costs.

So I can understand why nobody attempts those kinds of games. And that's not even getting into the technical or logistical shit like needing engine tools that don't currently exist.

>> No.45687736

>>45687684
This is a good point, some things are extremely cultural as well and is not simple to translate overall. It's not Monogatari in LN tier, but it does make for some VN's harder to translate over because it takes that same amount of effort and sophistication as well from Editor and Translator to bring over West. This also might explain why some licenses do not get picked up and some just do not want anything to do with the West at all, Eushully being notable of that example.

New Trailer dropped for Gears Of Dragoon 3 coming out in a few months in Japan. I can only hope it comes over someday here, because it seems like they have taken feedback on the map system to know where your quest is, and the UI of the characters looks neat, and traversal on the map seems much easier than in the past with the 2.5D character traveling on the map. Maybe they can drop another trailer soon with battle gameplay and menu UI.

The good nukige most of the times are hard to get licenses for. Let alone will they even make back the money they costed to get the licenses for. You need a really big platform to advertise your games to outside of even just Steam in general, and the big sales on Steam are from Chinese purchasers - not English. I don't think even advertising on Fakku! gets a whole lot of sales, and they are arguably the biggest platform to advertise hentai to in the normiesphere. And even then I don't think anyone that is actually spending money on Fakku goods is going to buy a visual novel porn book for the price of some 60+ dollars. Although, 70 to 80 bucks might be stretching it when I'm looking at OA2's price on Jast's store right now and it's selling for about 35 bucks. Compare that to 3 Cherry Kiss recent nukige which usually seem to sell at the price of about 10 to 12 bucks. What I'm curious of now is how many units need to be pushed for a long TL investment nukige to make a profit, and how much would that number be in comparison to units sold from shorter and cheaper nukige as a comparison. Which then gives a good metric of how much those bigger nukige need to sell for them be worth the investment compared to just pushing out 3 to 4 shorter nukige in that 1 big nukige's time.

Eroge is very niche by all measures, be it Muramasa or some obscure doujin. Take a breath of air.

All I can say is that Albatross' story is the main appeal of the work. It's a very entertaining adventure, and the writing style serves as a purpose to tell that story, not the other way around. You need a dictionary at hand and you even have these useful notes to help with the references and the most obscure words: http://railseibiya.web.fc2.com/
To make it more clear, it's not purple prose like you can find in other visual novels like the ones written by Kurashiki Tatsuya or Shimizu Hatsumi. Mareni doesn't use complicated words or phrasing for the sake of sounding cool. The thing is that he writes with a style of lyrical prose, where the long chain of complex sentences sound like a poem. That's what sets him aside from other visual novel writers.

It has a long common route and then a very solid route for each heroine. The cult story for the twins. The Moses Ark for Kuro. The Cthulhuthian 'Villa of the Sea God' for Rui. All quite full winged stories for each heroine. And finally the true ending with the stowaway.
