While yes you can get superpowers from fucking your wife(ves) and you honestly don't need more than that. You forget two good points: humans are social animals, and people like luxury beyond base survival needs.

Once you understand that even in a post scarcity society there is still scarcity of resources such as space, man power, and minds you will quickly realize that there is still sources of scarcity and thus conflict or trade. You cannot stand on the same ground I do, you cannot, own the same being I do, you cannot own the same mind and products of it as I do.

Any MGE society will follow these basic economic and societal rules: humans will group and organize taking their wives with them. This will form new societies or replace old powerstructures as needed by replacing the old with mamono and married humans. Now we have to account that monsters will be making up a large portion of our population, at least half of the current female population if not more with the spread of green realms and cultural products converting the women en masse.

During this transitional phase the economy and government is not like to change much, food and goods will still be sold as usual while adapting to the new market forces unless government impeeds it. I am of the opinion that even after supplanting the current world order little will change in that regard. However, the drive of governments of old and their characteristics of expansion of power and centralization will no longer be a driving force as a monopoly on violence will be impossible to maintain nor be desired.

This will lead to inevitable power vacuums opening as egotistical monsters and men seek to carve out their own kingdom in niches where self sufficiency is more productive than living on the established grid, or where ego supercedes sense. There would be conflict there, if the ruling powers desire to maintain face or authority as normal governments are like to do, and I can imagine Lims or other high ranks to try to Interfere in Anon's undead kingdom of cute zombies maids.

Economy is a similar story, supplantation is the key word here, and different from government their desire to expand stems from the same instinct and greed as mankind's. Despite that things like food and water are no longer needed to ensure survival, what of beyond? Food is still a psychological need much as water, what of good foods and tasty beverages? Those will still be desired just as alcohol, clothing both fine and mundane, furniture, and so on. The cornerstone of an economy is not just survival, but desire and wants.

As for how it operates? Hard to say, just because currency is no longer needed doesn't mean bartering is more efficient or necessarily preferred. What backs the money of the world varies, be it the petro dollar, force of arms, gold, or more and even in this new world its not like to change radically in practice. Naturally, mana which is the cornerstone of both energy and sustenance is the go to backer of currency if not currency itself. Since after all, the only thing that needs be to qualify as currency is a shared perceived value, certain level of difficulty of acquisition(stronger monsters make more and weaker monsters, the majority, make less), and a way to devise it for trade. All of which we have in setting already, though I wouldn't be surprised if the largely feudalistic monsters keep a gold standard or otherwise while the more modern supplanted governments keep their economy based around x. Despite thread canon mana in MGE, while universal, is rarely listed as a currency despite it being vital for survival.

Instead you have various kingdoms, theocracies, republics, and more that all seem to use more mundane forms of trade. I don't expect this to change, though a forward thinking government of a large population like say, China, might indeed opt for switching to a mana tax and use it as basis to prop up their currency as opposed to old methods.

Just because MGE presents itself as stifling to world building does not mean that it actually is. Conflict between hot-headed leaders and calculating rules, trade wars, and fighting over space are all still on the table even if the nature of the violence involved is no longer inherently lethal and on the individual level you'd have a happy end.

Been going through some archived threads today and came across an interesting point from an anon who got dog-piled as a MGU/SpaceBattlesfag, but he did bring up at least one good point; how do you add conflict to stories in the setting? Sure you can make it work if you work within the confines of the Order being at play or a some flavor of DoTR, but not only are both of those conflicts temporary, they don't allow for much wiggle room story-wise in terms of creating unique scenarios.
Furthermore, I've been concerned for the future of Monster Girl media as a whole given the division between people who want to alter the settings to suit their own ends and purists. KC has every right to protect his IP from being infected, but at what point does that start to impede creativity? At some point, rules do need to be bent for the sake of individual stories, and sometimes you do need bad things to happen to good people in order for their victories to have more weight. Sure it reminds us of how painful real life is, but the point of all stories is that they are inherently escapist. Pain and suffering in storytelling can absolutely amplify the joy and happiness in it. What use is the love we cherish if we do not fight for it? Why read about it at all if there is no journey to follow, with crests and valleys?

Recall that scene where they rescued Lasky and are in the Pelican, where Spartans Fred and Kelly take off their helmets showing their super pale scar riddled faces and BEEG ol' eyes that look like that due to cybernetics and other scifi augmentations surgeries.

So thread. Picture yourselves with a Spartan 2 female exposed to mamono mana. You'll likely get yourself a succ or lesser succ or Amazoness who's this military woman, clad in Mjolniir power armor, TALL, muscle /fit/, pale skin but is scar riddled from war and surgeries. Taxes, or the equivalent, is likely to grow higher proportionally. All the government-like bodies will have a much wider and larger range of phenomena to regulate. On the plus side the civil/military services of government offer a better class of benefits than the majority of the private sector, and would have to aggressively recruit simply to attempt handling anything. High amnesty and certification bonuses are methods that might apply.

The added complexity comes with effects we’re all familiar with. A large stupid populace unable to adapt weights down current human attempts, but a massive improvement in geriatric technology might blunt our idiocratic trends. True drop-outs have the option to screw for eternity in relative luxury, compared to our current penury/non-citizen model. But poor impulse control still selects out that type, and without a deficit. I’d suppose the remainder, active society, would be disturbingly sharp and engaged by our standards.

Rate my post-portals setting/story:
During the stabilization of connections and relations after portals open on a small scale in specific regions of Earth, there becomes an influx of migrants from both sides that became so chaotic that most western governments had no choice but to throw their hands up at. While things on Earth's side mostly involve Mamano trying to adapt to human society, things are more interesting in their world.
Essentially, human kingdoms had the entire truth revealed to them by pressure from Earth governments to get some form of control over the Chief God upon digging into what she had been up to and forcing her and her pantheon to get lambasted at international courts under threat of nuclear annihilation. On one hand, these societies are fractured and lost access to many of the more powerful holy magics. On the other, the influx of technology and disenfranchised Earthlings seeking opportunity (housing, meaningful labor, mercenaries, passportbros, etc.,) gave them enough of a boon to still remain independent for the time being.
The part I'm wishing to focus on is how adventuring guilds would adapt to meet the influx of humans, who have differing views on Mamano than the old-guard of the Order who killed-on-sight, as well as their own personal agendas. Essentially you have a surge of adventurers, which get bounties to solve individual problems for clients in the wake of the changing world.

Would like to get some input on this before I put effort into it. Anything I should consider while I write? My biggest concern is avoiding /tg/ autism so anything that could deal with that would be appreciated; one of the goals with this project is to directly oppose those things as antagonistic forces in the story, preventing our protagonists from being happy until they get demonic silver to the face.

The setting is always a backdrop to the story. The story is more important. Figure out what kinda story you wanna write, and then the setting will make itself around that.
Do you want a story of culture shock and coming to terms with the fact that the world keeps changing? If so then maybe your writeup is good for that, but I'd trim some parts of it down so it's easier to digest. Do you want something else? Then I think you should focus on a different part of the setting, one that compliments the kinds of stories you're writing in them.
And the best way to deal with /tg/ autism is to just not engage in it. Again, a setting is useless without a story, just as bedsheets are useless without a bed, or a fridge is a waste of space and energy without anything to put into it. So write a story first, or even just outline it in broad strokes, then figure out what setting will fit, and don't worry about minute details of logistics.

Since so much has changed socially, these societies are still having to come to terms with everything. For example, take all the confusion that spawned the /tg/ and MGU garbage from mistranslations plus the setting not being as developed in the encyclopedias as they have been through accompanying material. Since information travels poorly even in todays Information Age, imagine how that would be in a medieval society where there is already a known conspiracy to suppress the truth about Mamano. The Order would make every effort to propagandize, and may even take the opportunity to try their hands at manipulating Mamano to do their bidding. I have one kingdom for instance that acts as a potential reform for the Order that has successfully stolen a bunch of tech from Earth and the Mamano to create a secondary capitol that does employ many of the more dangerous Mamano species empowered with holy magics. They essentially predicate on any rejects in their society who dont fit the aggressive mold, imply that it will get them an easy ticket to a mate, then proceed to entertain their LARP.

Thanks for the advice. I usually start with characters then develop the setting around them, so I'm basically trying to create the perfect set up for my little dudes to bounce off one another and get involved in events that effect them at a personal level.
As for avoiding /tg/ stuff, I think it's gonna be pretty difficult since I am going to dig into the Order and pre-DL stuff pretty extensively. However, I think the key is to emphasize that the bad stuff is not at all to be replicated, that it's on the way out, and the only people involved with it are horribly misguided. Even though conflict is a major part of the story, since it follows adventurers, that is just the character's jobs and fortunately there are plenty of ways to resolve a seemingly violent situation non-lethally given the tools available in the setting and creativity. I really look forward to writing out a fight the main duo will have with a milsurp tank occupied by schizos.

Oh, my mistake. Thought you were referring to the people in the Order who would migrate after the propaganda starts to crack.
As for why humans from Earth would come there, it's pretty simple. Humans are pretty terrible at individual levels, greedy, and destined to desire what they shouldn't have. Even though some or most people would want life with a Mamano, there is absolutely a subset of our population who would love nothing more than to intentionally put themselves into a compromising situation. Particularly milfags who want to sign up for fighting, but are disillusioned with modern governments. Furthermore, the guild isn't an Order-only institution in my setting. Since neutral territories are now a much more relevant thing, and that the scope of what an adventurer does isn't just limited to fighting, it's more of a collection of freelancers who share jobs with one another. It has its own internal politics, and really is a giant ploy by interested parties to either make a bunch of money while normalizing relations between countries to create better conditions for trade.

This is a very fair assessment. The issue is that if you remove the humans who suck altogether, or don't give them an opportunity to reform, the story ends fairly quickly. Another thing to note is that while they will get certain benefits from the situation, it definitely will not be entirely positive. Humans are going to be stronger individually and locally, but as a force, they will take an overall blow. This way, you can have more threatening antagonists, but you can be comfortable in knowing that it's no more than an animal extending claws when cornered.
I personally hold the belief that human and Mamano society are not incompatible at all, no more than America is incompatible with many of its allies. Just different priorities and mindsets, but still governed by a basic desire to do things that benefit themselves and things they care about. Making sure that Mamano and humans have context to have these sorts of political engagements is a topic that I really want to emphasize.

I'm going to be assuming for the sake of my setting that all the more powerful stuff you hear about like that is regional. Sure you may have this in say Royal Makai or a Gremtech level society, but what about neutral states that may not have any magic-wielders at all? It's my explanation at least for how you can have underwater societies with submarines in the same setting as medieval agrarian societies. Technology levels, even magic, isn't the same everywhere.

I understand the sentiment, and I do intend to take a lot of creative liberties since I have ambitions for a lot larger worldbuilding to come after this. I'm still on the fence if I should even bother relating this to MGE in any way beside the general concept. The sole reason I am even considering it is because its what most anons are familiar with, has objectively the best system for how monster girls work, and includes a lot of stuff I have already accounted for in world building.
Regardless, this has without a doubt made it very clear that I need to establish that this is headcanon. I can guarantee that the story will go in places many will not care for, which I have already come to terms with. The main thing I absolutely want to avoid is starting any unnecessary drama; I'm incorporating MGs into a bigger setting in hopes that it will inspire others to entertain the concept a bit more and produce more OC. Truly I'm just nostalgic for the times when things were more active, and wish more people would try their hands at creating something.
As for my personal understanding of the setting, I very intentionally made the decision to leave out a lot of stuff I view as a contrivance or needlessly convenient. My philosophy with writing anything is that anything and everything can be altered depending on the needs of the story. If a character can just teleport out of a fight at any time for instance and that becomes a rule, you wind up either having to spend time finding a way to counter it or get very low-stakes engagements.

This is what I was worried about and because of that, I'm just going to gut the MGE association entirely. I will absolutely take cues and credit it, that much is certain, but given my goals and what MGE is if were getting to brass tax, the two are incompatible.
Another thing that I wanted to avoid was another MGQ situation. That invited so much garbage into monster girls as a concept its laughable. If I had to say what my goal is, I want to take the framework of "all female monster girl species that rely on humans for some form of survival" plus the romantic bits and incorporate that into something.

The connection to my other thing also isn't all to be corporate. In fact, I won't even reveal the two are tied until super late into the other project which is set so far into the future of the other the two stories may as well be separate.

But as I write this I think I might of just found a solution. I don't intend to advertise it, that being my stuff. I'm fairly confident it will stand on its own but really it was my mistake to even mention it. Honestly, I would really prefer this community doesn't notice any of that stuff and am catering mostly to casuals with my current writing as it is.
As for being a pillar of the community, that is another thing I do not want to be. I reiterate, I want to keep them separate until pieces are in place for it to work. Until that happens, this is just my project. Only reason I'm continuing to mention the other garbage that is irrelevant to the thread is that it is about to be archived so its not that big a deal methinks. I had the exact same concept for this one story I'm working on with a self-insert and a /human/-user. On one hand, it would probably not surprise them since the MGE is already a real thing in their setting. On the other, there would be a huge catfight between the Wandering Scholar and KC over who really owns it, and they may either get along very well or hate each others guts. Naturally, they would be confused and probably annoyed since they won't be able to have a fresh start or have a truly unsuspecting husbando.
