I absolutely love twintails.

One of the best things about living in Japan is that I get to see them in the wild while in the West they are exclusive to toddlers. People of all ages wear them. Sometimes I see a group of college students and they are all wearing them, matching. It's really hard not to look. I try to rank each and every one that I come across. I get to see an S rank maybe once a year. I also suspect that there are more of them during the summer because women prefer to put their hair down in the winter so this is currently a dry season, though I saw some nice long ones a few days ago at a station.

I have a question to my fellow connoisseurs, how important is the line in the back for you guys? Pic related, a solid good line like this is very rare to see in real life and it blows me away every time I see one, especially if it's a natural hairdo and not just some cosplay hair.

Also braids do very little to me and don't feel like twintails at all, almost kinda ruins the whole thing. Would like to hear some feedback on this as well.

Hmm, it's not like I take pictures of them and considering how rare they are it's kinda tough to produce one by just googling. What I can say is that if the tails are overly fancy I put them in another category, like "cosplay tails". The ones that I'd consider the most impactful and the most beautiful in my opinion are the ones that feel like a natural hairdo but accomplished to near perfection, very symmetrical, pleasing height and not messy, though of course messy hair has its own appeal.
