Well, it's good for fapping. Kotarou was hot, Risa was god tier waifu material and the lolis were kind of enjoyable since they were cute.

The story and the main character were utter shit though, that's right. Especially the sudden plot twists to faint story progression.

My guess is the best we can hope for is mostly-acceptable dynamic desktop waifu's with good enough AI to hold a conversation/learn complex information, various sex mods etc, long before we have the robotics technology to realize it in 3D.

~10-15 years before AI advances enough to be tolerable.

~20-23 years before before that AI gets put to use in "top of the line" items

~30 years before the majority of the "major kinks" are worked out and it becomes accessible to the general public at a reasonable price.

I'd expect we'd need considerably more parallel hardware for real AI to work. I'm also not nearly as optimistic about our future as >>4538692 is ( I think advances will be slower as we've already hit a pretty solid wall in moore's law, but more parallelization and nanotech advances will obviously happen as they should. As for AI, it's both a question of hardware and software. One possibility may be massively parallel CPUs, maybe another possibility would lie in quantum computing if they ever manage to get it usable on a large scale. As for the software, I think the knowledge-base/training data for such an AI would be what would be valuable(what you could pirate, but it could also be freely available, or you could make it yourself - think of raising human children, that would be a glorified example of "training"). It's probably too early now to speculate on such things as the hardware is not yet good enough.
