The thing that game did very well is to develop specifics themes and conflicts within a route, all of the them are very well explained and fit the overall thematic of the story, it's a fact that Clannad is a step above most VNs in its execution.
Other than that it's a question of taste like you said, concept that are "generic", "retarded" or "overused" are found in pretty much everything though, even in Tsukihime or POI for example, but if they are well brought and fit the overall story then there's nothing to fuss about however.

Kyou acts like she is doing a sacrifice for her sister, when it's about a highschool relationship, with NO indication on how it could develop. If Tomoya was slightly interested in her from the star and she ditched him to give Ryou a chance, it would SLIGHTLY make sense.
Conclusion, too much drama with no real reason.

As for Fuko, whole ghost story and mind of an 8 year old is not a good enough concept to carry a whole route for, I'd say.

As for Kotomi, her path is much like Nagisa's (Tomoya helping a 'special' girl and getting close to her), and the sudden plot point (HEY childhood friend) just doesn't fit well.

That's the Abridged version.
In most cases though, high school relationships and drama just don't appeal to me. If I was a fan of the genre, I'd probably love everything about it.

Kyou's route is the weakest, everyone know it. Anyways that route is supposed to be the "anti-key" and high school crush is something that happens really often, it doesn't need a reason. That route was focused on the conflict that Tomoya felt.

Fuuko's route isn't about her being a ghost or whatever, it focuses on her trying so hard for one goal, simplemindedly and without any rest. She isn't Ayu, her being in coma is revealed at the beginning for a reason, her route is one of the best for showing and developing really well the main theme of Clannad, Fuuko who even if she acts like a child really try to help her sister find happiness and Nagisa and Tomoya who in the mean time become a surrogate family for her.
Honestly her route was very well written and one of my favorite and it definitely had a lot behind it.

Kotomi's route as well was very well written but it wasn't a redux of Nagisa's like you said, her route was focused on her making links with people around her, there's a reason why Kyou, Ryou and Nagisa had such a big role in it. Other than that the plot point about her being a childhood friend of Tomoya was very well brought with several hints, it isn't "sudden".

It's not REAL drama, it's overused High School Drama used in anime, TV shows and games where they just want quick drama and impact instead of developing it properly

Also, as an addition, I hate both twins as characters, so even with proper execution, I doubt I would enjoy the route much.

The thing is that Kyou have known Tomoya for some time and they obviously have a very good relationship, they don't have to show how she fell in love with him, it would only be redundant. For Ryou, it's obvious that it wasn't TRUE LOVE like kyou but more like a mix of a simple crush and that she didn't want to lose to her sister.

In that side story is told that Ushio experienced a similar thing, she got sick, like in the normal end. She vanished to the former field, the hospital.
Tomoya's theory is that she's linked to the world, and that is the reason she wants to travel around it.

Fixed. Tsugumi's route should always be the last one.

The way I played it:
You -> Sara -> Sora -> Tsugumi

(You could also play Sora's route before Sara's, it works that way as well)

Wrong, Coco's route feels more like a direct continuation to Tsugumi's route.

They listened to the wrong anon. Tsugumi's route should always be left last.
