Why are all Touhou games impossible?

I have a feeling that someone like me who does not like or is any good at shoot em ups will ever find any meaningful success in Touhou.

They aren't, they are actually quite easy for shmups.

>I have a feeling that someone like me who does not like or is any good at shoot em ups will ever find any meaningful success in Touhou.

Shmups are about practice. If you cultivate such a self-defeating attitude then you'll never practice and you really will never get better. Nobody starts off good at shmups, and there's a lot of failure involved before you become able to even clear normal mode.

Aspies: Just another title that people gave themselves to feel "Special". People continue to classify themselves to give themselves a feeling of unwarranted self importance.

The whole syndrome was most likely diagnosed just so that quack doctors can shove pills down the throats of children making them addicted to the garbage they force feed them thinking it will help them and to make assloads of money while doing so.

If any of you have actually seen "real" autistic people, and I mean unable to talk or understand you. It is not pleasant.

BTW I am a Bio major, and I have seen several autistic kids before. It is not pleasant to look at or even grasp, knowing that their potential will never truly be understood or unleashed because of their limitations. Most Autism is caused due to a lack of a chemical in the blood; I think it was Oxytocin if I am not mistaken, the same can be said with Down syndrome caused by raised levels of purines in the blood due to the Gart Gene.

Reflexes aren't that neccesary honestly. You just need to think more while playing. Memorization can help a ton. Also a few simple tactics, bomb on things you know you fail at if you're going for a 1cc, instead of dodging bullets go through gaps, and don't move erratically as that messes with how enemies fire bullets most of the time. 2 the games are not impossible, just make a consideration: I'm 22. When I was about 9 there were arcade games. Now it's true that I was younger but hell, THOSE were hard. And also you had to pay coins to play.
With touhou you just have to relax and play freely, and a bit of practice can make you better at the game. Just mind to play with a different purpose than "gotta beat the game", because if you do it, when around at stage 3 you will lose a life for a stupid mistake you will just rage instead of playing better.

>Pretty much, I hate people who are really smug and condensing about how skilled they are too because really the only difference between them and a new player is in how much time has been invested.
Typical secondary fan thinking Touhou is nothing more than luck and memorization. I 1cc'd my first Touhou (PCB) on normal mode in the first month. Time alone will not make you better at these games. It's more about how often you play. Leading up to my completion of PCB I played it 8 to 12 hours each day. Had I went on a 2 or 3 month hiatus my skill would have dropped (preventing me from being able to beat it).

To reiterate, one's mastery of Touhou is more about skill/dedication than it is about how long you've been into the franchise. I've known people on pooshlmer that got into Touhou a few months ago and are already attempting lunatic mode. I on the other hand have been playing Touhou since old /a/ and I still cant 1cc SA or UFO's lunatic mode.

There's still arcades in the present. I used to pay coins just to play BlazBlue at those place. Shit, anything on arcade is hard.

Now I just play it on PC.

Aren't you basically saying the same thing as him? Nobody thinks you can get good at Touhou by playing once and then waiting for a year, are you dense?

Yeah that's time dude.

By time I mean how much you sit there and really work on your skill, investing long hours into the game, not how long you've been playing for. I was not saying that you naturally get better over time like it's some auto-leveling mmo at all.

I've been playing shmups for a long time too and I'm still not that hot at them because I can't be fucked practicing. I can appreciate what it requires to become more skilled though.

Not really because if you've been playing Touhou on and off since 2005 your skill will not be any better than someone who's been playing the game actively since 2010. Touhou is more about focusing and reaction time than it is about memorization. Simply memorizing spellcards is not going to stop you from getting game over on SA's lunatic.

i haven't tried SoEW normal yet

forgot about EoSD, it'd be between PCB and UFO

as for SA, powering up isn't as easy as MoF, bombs (depending on character) don't deal as much damage and the patterns are just plain harde

It however will make you the perfect IN scorerunner!

Honestly if you are playing the easier games and solely want to survive Touhou really is 50% reflexes 50% luck and memorizal. There's a single MoF card you need to go against with actual skill, even on Lunatic. PCB is even worse, you can bomb pretty much everything and only need to learn stages/a few easy patterns. I honestly find S1/2/3 much worse than 4/5/6 on PCB because I can let bombs loose without regrets on the latter stages whereas the first three kill me repeatedly with bombs in stock.

>> No.4506461

>>4506453

Sigh. Just about the only accomplishment I have in PCB is I can consistently perfect the first 4 stages and 3 bosses.

The only thing stopping me really is my own incompetence.

All men are NOT created equally you twats. If we were to count up how much tries it took us to complete the scenes in the later stages of StB, not one amongst us would be the same. This is also true for all sports (and games in general). Blaming your short comings on your lack of dedication is lazy. Maybe this genre isn't your thing. Try playing a MMORPG or something. I heard in those games skill doesn't matter because they allow you to level up over *time. Unfortunately for you secondaries there's no such thing as leveling up in Touhou. You either have it or you don't. Though in theory a monkey could write a novel if given enough time. Good luck, because you're going to need it.

Memorizing the stages and spellcards is really (nearly) everything you need to (be able to) 1cc SA Lunatic.
I doesn't even matter if you bomb in the first 3 stages, bomb every (harder) card of Orin's, die (because you had 0.XX) and continue bombing.

Since it isn't brought up in the picture, it's clear that all of Youmu's noncards are aimed at you. If you don't believe in abusing loopholes then keep in mind the static part of the pattern so you can repeat the same set of movements.

Let's stay you're up against her first noncard. The obvious position is to start in front of her and take it from there. Whether she moves left or right depending on your position it'll always be the same distance, and so you can prepare another general set of movements based on her new position to you which probably won't be straight down like in the first wave. The movement Youmu follows when firing the arrowhead bullets I'm unsure about because I never bothered to take it that far, but micromemorizing the entire attack until it times out should be a possibility. Either case, she should already be down before firing her second set of green/orange bullets.
