/egg/ — Era Games General; also known as “Era games thread”
Era games are a group of (usually) Japanese-developed text porn games.
They’re not exclusively related to the Touhou franchise, but it’s one of the series with the most era games.

▶How to play?
Run anchor.exe (or Emuera, depending on the game), Japanese locale is advised so you don’t run into untranslated text.
If you wish to manually update, delete old files aside the sav and dat folders to avoid any bugs.

▶Tips
If you’d like to either edit or add your own portraits, the files are located within the ‘resources’ folder in webp format. You can use paint.net to edit them.

I tried to make her standing art a little bit higher quality but the improvement feels pretty minimal, and there are other things like the original art guy clearly made these image sets according to a scale, a small detail which I sacrificed to give more pixels to the actual character
It's not that easy to replicate all the thought process that went into it unless we do a massive art rework, which would be labor-intensive as hell since we would void almost all the effort that went into making these resources

It's not fucking hard to use sugoi, but if you want to use an online model because your PC can't handle local MTL, your options are going to be pretty limited.

Honestly before Marriage I'd like to see more mechanics that would benefit from marriage implemented first. A housing system is a must before proper marriage is in place, Hard to sell the fantasy of being married without a proper house. It'd also make it more reasonable to flesh the childrearing system, since with a real house you could buy/build furniture that your kids can use, instead of carpentry just being a way to make money. But that just like marriage would be a ton of work, and unless backported to JP would pretty much make it so no character outside of /EGG/ exclusive ones have any content catered towards it.

To further my idea about housing, time to be the idea guy. So if you want to start with housing you need to buy land, my idea is that you can buy a house in an area OR you can buy land in the middle of nowhere(very expensive) that you can fully customize. Buying a house in an area acts more like an apartment where you need to pay rent but gain access to the basic facilities you can expect from a small house, and a limited ability to upgrade it with more/better furniture and facilities. Whereas buying land outside of town would be a huge money sink, and most likely be endgame and resemble the mansion system of Lig, allowing you to potentially have the entirety of the game living in it. It'd also allow you to make the most changes, with certain touhous that you let live there giving you access to unique benefits like Yukari giving you the ability to teleport to any area instantly.

Obviously harem marriages would be implemented, with a toggle for the strange few that hate the idea of not having multiple wives. It realistically would just be an upgrade to the [Lover} status, most likely requiring high favor, dependency, intimacy and (probably) money. It wouldn't be a lot of effort to implement it in this state, but most characters would have no real difference with it over [Lover]. And really Marriage isn't that different from being in a relationship, the only difference is how you're taxed. That and the right to claim adoption and automatic inheritance, and any extra bonuses you would get depending on the nation.

For years I've mentioned and seen others sugesting/asking for a system similar to this. From the people who looked into it no one wanted to go along with this idea, the general consensus is that its just simply not worth the time to code something like that. Apparently there is too much of a spaghetti code and a system big like that would need a major overhaul on some critical parts of the game that noone wants to mess, some even went as far as saying that it would be easier to start from scratch and just do another Era.

I'm not sure about saves, Pedy removed the entire TH18 cast so it isn't very compatible., AnonTW should be fine maybe, just make sure you hit the update since it might work then. I recall AnonTW had to do some extra work for people transferring over, since Pedy at the time had the only branch that was updated.

I came for eraMegaten mostly but I hit a wall so I'm taking a break and trying TW despite only knowing a dozen of the characters and not very well.
It's been kind of fun getting to know them and using it as an impetus to look them up. I'm 30 days in and almost certainly not playing well as I've been doing a little of everything and talking to everyone. Right now I'm trying to be friends with the Kosuzu but we are only at 500 favorability, it's slow going.
I think so the characters I like the most are Yumeni, Tenshi, and Seiga. We'll see who becomes the favourite or if something else changes.
Before I get back to the grind, can the player character get spell cards for danmaku from sources other than achievements?

You don't really use spell cards. It's all abstracted away. Achievements give abilities that make things easier, and you can also create consumable items with Mixing that give you an advantage for a single fight.
Other than that, it's pretty much just a raw skill check, with your stats drawing from your Combat skill and maximum Stamina.

In all seriousness, I don't think anyone cares about the quality of translations put out, even by those that don't know Japanese but just MTL it, so long as it makes logical sense. Especially menu translations for era games that use real fancy-looking menus. Honestly it'd make sense to me if there was a gamemode that heavily restricted access to content, no extra and only a few simple storylines to follow. So instead of being pulled in every direction with no idea what you're doing, it's a more curated story focus with NG+ then giving you access to the full range of content, and hopefully a bit more understanding of the game and how it works. But honestly I don't think that would ever happen, the game is very unfriendly to new players even if you limited access to most of the content.
