While she's not quite been the same this year, and this wasn't entirely unexpected, it still feels pretty damn devastating to me personally. One of the OGs, kept making regular video content till the bitter end, probably close to my generation IRL given her content and sense of humor, great voice, somehow entertaining, educational, and hilarious at the same time, which is rare. I even tried translating her videos for a while, though couldn't keep up at all.
That leaves about two Vs that I still genuinely care about, both indie of indie though with little monetization if any, so you never know how long they can keep going.

It wasn't so much rumors, as it was kind of normal back when they just started (Shitennou, except for Nekomasu if you count him, were all exactly the same corpo-scripted chuubas, except on a bigger scale). And her content was all pre-recorded, including the radio "streams", some of it was also kinda 棒読み.
So it was perfectly natural to think that it might be the case, and nobody really had a problem with that either. Uni-P's existence (probably Akimitsu was writing much of the show) wasn't official or ever proven in any way, but kind of expected. It's really only with Niji/Holo that "VA is also the entertainer and primary content producer" became the standard, it was still a different age in 2018.
Uni really was an artifact of her time that somehow survived into 2023, although, arguably, in a zombie-like state (fitting for an undead-like race, perhaps...).
