Hey all,

Decided to actually try playing the games after following touhou for the stories/fanart after I learned out it in Baltimore at a anime show in 07.

I know this guy is a one man band but... I got an emulator and then played back to perfect cherry blossom on my PC and then this... I don't know what to say. This guy hasn't improved at all. His art is still amateurish. His music still sounds like MIDI files I use to play in the 90s. (Albeit with a ok wavetable samples I assume?) I just don't get it. It's not really fun. It's like if you played Terra Cresta on the NES and the enemies just randomly shot out millions of wasted ammo in every direction which doesn't make any real world sense. It felt like going back to a time even I am not old enough to remember in 2D, but with a 3D accelerator that you know is doing something but not with 3D models. So I don't know. I don't know what the big deal is. I think I will stay happy just reading stories, making 3D models, admiring art of the animal girls and read doujinshi/manga based off it.

Also as a heads up when stacking buffs the longer duration wins
So 3 Yang for 2T + 2 Yang for 4T = 5 Yang for 4T
Pretty important when trying to keep a stack going for the entire stage.
It's also why cards like Overwhelming Firepower or Ordinary magician or Redder than Blood are very good because it's a 2T buff on a spellcard letting you choose when to use them and extend the duration.

If you want to get things done faster for the final healthbars then yeah, for the 2nd healthbars I opt to just have 2 grazes up and wait out the turn. If you're going to use Smoltori you're going to have to use her lock removal skill in addition to her spellcard with that effect in order to clear both locks, in addition to having 2 grazes up for the party again, since it's inconsistent which one she will remove with just her skill.

But she lacks team support and utility like team crit attack, team accuracy, defense debuffs in last word and her anomaly breaks aren't as spammable as koishi's.
MV reisen only supports normal yin attack consistently because her yin attack rank 2 buff only applies to herself, units can't be top tier by just hitting hard anymore they need to provide more value to the team, that is why C3 yukari is still the best character in the game, also there is characters like blue reimu and MV youmu whom deal very high damage, can break anomalies and heavily debuff enemies defense with lw (in fact MV youmu is considered the best relic character because her support capabilities are also great)

Current jap VS battle has 0 (zero) locks and the only status effect that doesn't work is freeze. It does remove your buffs in the final HP bar but that isn't too bad.

The next 3 weeks are pre-anniversary in the jap version which means that there is a high chance that they will just send out the A6 Prismrivers to die. Nothing of note will happen until the end of the month. it is highly unlikely that one of the Prismrivers will just randomly have 2 lock removals on her skills since they are all going to be regular rarity characters. Unfortunately despite the 40+ retro units we have around half of them can voice their opinion, rest stays useful as tower meat grinder, random event stages, maybe daily arena or for unity useful to farm X card.

FES side of things it's not that better, Iku, Yachie, Hecatia, Momoyo, Keiki, Nue, Harmjobby Douji and maybe Yuuma are probably the most sought ones, rest is there to lvl120 nukes

Gen pool has their hits and their misses

UFES, you basically need:

B3 Toyohime, Yorihime and Sagume
B3 Reimu which can be replaced by F1 Reimu
B3 Youmu not so needed specially when RE Cirno or C3 Yukari are around

this might be biased but I do have maxed out S2 Satorin and S5 Okuu and Orin, I mostly used Satori and Orin, specially Orin cause she helped a whole lot to farm the last two story cards we got, Okuu it's not bad, it's just that S2 Satori sometimes it's more on point than her and if not F1 Koishi covers everything but the kitchen sink and when you are out of F1 Koishi you just pick Yachie or Iku

Red Marisa still has full elemental coverage on all her spell cards and is one of the very few characters who only has AoE spells. She has pretty much 0 support though, can't break any status on her own and shares elements with stronger Marisas. Would not limit break. I only have her maxed out since I had her since the day she was released. She never got any direct buffs for her spellcards either so it is not like her damage got buffed.
