I guess they do that for people who have to prepare for work and can only watch for an hour or less. So they cover the most important or popular news once every hour. Between those segments they do variety reports and activities. You should also try watching Fujitv's morning show, めざましテレビ. It also has its own original segments like じゃんけん, 占い, and an animated series, 紙兎ロペ. Unfortunately the Fujitv stream is often laggy or not working at all. The TBS stream is pretty reliable.
I usually just watch The Time from 5:30 to 6:25, then switch between it and the other channels and WNI depending on what's interesting.
Lately the Ohtani news has been tiring. Like yeah, we get it. He's not ready to play again. Move on. The Johnny's news is tiring too. Like, who tf gives a shit about all these pretty boys.
You also get a lot of interesting views of the harsh weather on the morning tv shows.

Basically, all the morning shows are 3 hours long, so they have to repeat news. Conversely, Fujitv's night news show, Live News Alpha, is only 45 minutes long, so no repeats, and it's really chill. 堤礼実's voice is Ayaka-tier.

Fujitv talks about Ohtani, but maybe not as much as TBS. At least lately everyone is talking a little more about the women's volleyball team, and besides Ohtani, the some of the baseball highlights have been kind of fun to watch.
Eriko usually isn't in The Time's studio on Thursdays I think, so maybe she'll be on Hiruobi.

Yeah, fcron, for example, can be configured to allow all users to set persistent cron jobs. It would be nice if vern would run a cron daemon like that for users. I looked at the vern wiki and in systemctl output, and it didn't look like they have one set up.

I'm getting an ip address for them, so I guess it isn't DNS related. I wish I had taken note of my site's onion address to see if I can load my website that way. If they don't come back, I guess you'll have to find another free unix web host or just keep running the site from your own machine as a hidden service with tor. It would be nice if there's another free Nix-based system, but I'll keep waiting for them to come back.

I think my problem the first time around was that I tried it in the context of a big project for work, and projectile might have been doing a ton of file access behind the scenes over the network. Not sure about that, the katakana transcription of Ayrton Senna's lastname is セナ (romaji: sena), which is coherent with the way this name is read.

I think it's more likely for a Japanese person to refer to this transcription, than to interpret the latin script version (Senna) as if it was a romaji transcription.

If their next tv collaboration is on FujiTV again, I'll suspect they have a deal together, which is great for Non if Fuji has good F1 coverage. That first comedy show that did a WNI segment last month belongs to Asahi TV, so I doubt they're exclusive to FujiTV. Since The Time does their own weather reporting, I doubt they'll cover WNI, but maybe Hiruobi could send Eriko to make a segment like yesterday's.

Senna (or Sena) is an underrated name, at least in the US. It's on the list of Japanese names (I guess its common in Brazil too) that don't sound obviously Japanese I would name my hypothetical daughter.

I've been wondering how to automate more of this data collection. The most advanced way would be training an AI model to recognize the casters, forecasters, segment types, etc, then have it watch the stream and update it's own database, which it can then use to check the accuracy of the json-based database. The easier way would be a program that downloads youtube stream chat logs, either in real-time or afterwards if available, and extracting data about casters, segments, earthquakes, whether there was a crosstalk, etc., by counting occurences of words and emojis. Even making a word cloud for each stream would be really interesting: you could find out when Mayu's sweet potato meme started, when Riena's いい奈 meme started, etc. Think of it as an 009 keyword ranking, but for each stream's chat messages.

You have to actually watch the videos to record some of the data he's recording. That's serious dedication.

Out of curiosity, I compared his 8/2023 data with my own, and I was impressed that he captured every schedule change that my own system captured. However, his system has more detail in who covered what and for how long. My system only sees the JSON schedule and treats it as the truth, and it usually is, but it doesn't tell the whole story. However, one thing my system captures that his doesn't is who was originally scheduled. I don't display it yet, but the data has been preserved in the `cancellation` table.

It's an interesting case study in databases versus spreadsheets.

I just checked, and the invidious sites don't propagate live view counts. You have to get the livestream data straight from YouTube with no intermediaries.

speaking of /g/, I read some /hsg/ for reference on how to get my home pc on the internet so I can use it for Nix stuff, especially since vern is down. I'll eventually run a duckdns cron job on this pc, set up wireguard, and forward ports for NFS and ssh.
