However, considering it's origins are "wannabe japanese", some people get very pissy about whether or not they are weeaboo, because they only see it as people who really want to me Japanese. For example, I know a guy who's getting surgery to narrow his eyes (even though Japanese have wider eyes than most other east Asians).

By some definitions, you're a weeaboo. If you don't want to be Japanese, then you're not a weeaboo by the strictest definition.

Personally, I wish to be the Japanese, because then I would have learned nip as a kid and would be able to better consume weeaboo media. But I don't give a shit about their culture.
