That's pretty fair, actually. And speaking of fair, it's the least I could do for someone like Letty. I don't know many people who would turn down being taken care of like that, but it genuinely makes me happy to do that for someone else. Jokes aside, I think tons of people actually feel that way about someone or something, they just don't realize it. In the worst case scenario, treating someone really nicely is usually beneficial to you one way or another. Do it enough times for purely selfish gains and you'll eventually get a taste for doing it just because it feels good, I think.

Some people even genuinely live out their lives with that mindset as their number one priority, which boggles the mind. I need -something- to be bitter towards at times to cleanse my palate. Humor would be so much more boring if you were a goody two shoes that catered towards literally everyone. And being selfish is very relaxing from time to time.

I didn't mean to turn this into some sappy self-help or ego stroking affair, anon. Just wanted to state my desire to ruffle Letty's hair and be her bed. Be nice to the people you like.

I'm just fucking with you. Letty may not be my favorite hu but the fact that a doujin of her was the turning point to me getting into Touhou means she's relevant to me regardless, and in general, I understand and sympathize with your mindset.

If I had to say, my reasons are far more egocentric, as I enjoy the feeling of power and personal control that comes with looking after someone else, but I don't think there's strictly a difference between looking after someone for selfish reasons, and doing it because it's gratifying in its own right. If nothing else, humans being pack animals usually means being able to contribute meaningfully to someone else's life being better is a good feeling for most people, whatever the reason.

I'm well aware, just felt like dunking on vtubers for the hell of it. And funny you say that, considering I resent winter the most out of all seasons. I don't even have to deal with snow and it pains me. Always thought of Letty as being warm in her own way, though. Plenty of excuse to stay inside and stay cozy, anyway.

That's kinda what I was trying to get at, albeit not very well. Most people today don't particularly rely on a "close-knit community" as much as they do the greater scope of a population at large, and depending on your circumstance you can live just fine with the bare minimum social interactions (which is extremely unhealthy regardless). Still, our brain rewards us with as little as seeing someone smile, which tends to happen a lot when you dote on someone.

I do think there are plenty of people out there with hearts frigid enough where treating others kindly is done entirely to climb the ladder of life, and any satisfaction is secondary to their main goals, whatever it may be. I'm no saint by any means, but that just feels like such a waste of your life.

There's definitely a lot of reasons to act that way, and at the end of the day you should only really care about how it matters to you. I'd be lying if I said that aspect of control wasn't a part of it to some extent; I think that's reflected on what I said about trust earlier. Sometimes you want to leave all the doing to someone else, and sometimes you want to do all the things for someone. Or do them.
