Touhou fandom ultimately comes down to playing some games and/or downloading doujin. It isn't a knock on Touhou. It is simply an inherent part of it that causes it to attract a wider range of people.

Though this isn't me saying that because Umineko fans need to have--or rather--need to use their intelligence more that makes them superior. I've encountered many seemingly intelligent people who annoy me to no end. It was just a comparison.

Fandom will make them pretty, likeable, readapt their designs, create their storys, interactions, make tons of videos about then, doujins....

Put in lots of development for each one of them
Include conflicts and give a different layered personality for every one of them, from the old lady to the hot MILF.

People passing off ideas about a character's abilities don't really bother me, as long as people can distinguish what are their own ideas, what ZUN has explicitly said, and other things like that. I remember a while ago, someone had interesting ideas about Komachi's ability in relation to ferrying individual souls as quickly as possible.

It's one thing to discuss vague ideas in the Touhouverse, and it's another thing to defend and argue vague ideas in the Touhouverse.
