There’s really no amount of reading that will change the way you approach sentences. Each one has to be tackled logically by reading to the particle/punctuation mark and understanding what each fragment means on its own. This why I said that if you understand the particles, and the order of the sentence, you would have no problems. Everyone who’s learning just wants to just guess at the grammar and hope for the best.

It is literally impossible to tell when hiragana is part of a word or when it's a particle. It is impossible to tell when a word begins and when it ends. Even Yomichan gives a dozen interpretations of a set of 5 characters depending on which random combination of characters the program highlights, so beginning to "read" Japanese with dozens of lines by relying on a translator program is just impossible. I think everyone in this thread is just pretending to understand Japanese. It's impossible to "start reading" with little to no vocab because it is impossible to figure out what something is saying in a way that you could remember while you struggle to find the correct interpretation while sliding your cursor back and forth, hoping Yomichan just happens to get it right. And figure it out based on context? Please. There are too many definitions thrown under too many combinations of the characters, and it's just a bunch of random lines you could never remember.

After years of studying Japanese I finally started making a kanji recall deck. Here's what a card looks like. The front has audio as well. If I cannot reproduce the kanji down to every single stroke in correct order plus okurigana in case of verbs, I fail the card. I know this is overkill, but I'm loving the challenge.
