It's only natural they get along, they can relate to that feeling of dread as the end approaches, anticipation as their season approaches. Gensokyo isn't a land of conflict and hostility, so there's no use fighting over a fate they cannot change. They can learn a lot from another. The innocence of a fairy can be considered a form of wisdom or at least beauty to an (old) youkai, as can the youkai's introspection and further appreciation of the good times.

I wonder if Letty covets faith, love, adoration the same way the Akis need. Of course, being a youkai instead of a God like these two, faith isn't exactly her sustenance. But there could be an argument for Letty to thrive. In our contempary world, she'd certainly make a solid case for being the object of worship, although she is ultimately bound by the boundaries of seasons.
People say the winds that Winter brings only reeks of death, marking a time of hibernation for some, or exctinction for others, plant and wild life alike. However, the more common arguments being raised these days depict scorching heats as the ultimate enemy. Letty could really work on both fronts, an object of fear, and of hope.
Of course, Gensokyo isn't our world nor does it function in ways that it faces the same consequences, the same weather. Winter has arguably been the mightier foe for longer than it hasn't, but regardless, it's fun to hypothesize.
Can a youkai become a God if the beliefs humans hold in their regard changes?
