Konmai could have just not had shit programmers so their menus don't run like shit, since the CANNON BALLERS hardware is more than strong enough to support 1080p120 gameplay. I am really tired of doing contributions for the rhythm game I most play and I feel like it has ruined my life. This game had a struggling simulator scene for the longest time, I developed something fresh and open source alongside another person - the entire community has simply ignored it in favor of bootleg and low quality arcade recreations. Also have done some data contributions but the "team" that I'm in which does fuck all was constantly pressuring me to not publish my work. The cherry on the top is that members of said group have now been hired to work on a contracted official game by leveraging my work as theirs and ditching me socially as well. If you're a programmer and have considered doing anything to give back to players, do not do it. My four years have gone down the drain and you do not want to follow that path.

Sorry for the wait. The official reasoning is to "prevent piracy" while they profit off the game through a Patreon that offers exclusive access to content (albeit a bit dead). The more realistic answer is that most of their code is not clean room and/or stolen from other people, their own original features are horrendously buggy/not implemented well and a few members of the development team has a history of embedding malware into simulators (hscholt used to embed RATs in Hackerspump uploads). The latter is the reason why Nirvash doesn't work with them and so many AVs seem to pick on the game at random. I legitimately do not advice running the game on your main computer
