yo /jp/, /a/non here. I really want to play a VN, but I'm not really versed in this area, (though I remember playing Sakura Seasons, Runaway City and True Love like 10 years ago when I was a kid). I've just finished Saya no Uta, so now I could really use some laugh. Could you please suggest me a comical title?

I would preferably want one with not many choosing in the way (I really liked this in Saya no Uta). I don't want to worry about missing a secret ending or activating a flag, etc.

tl;dr, I want a short and funny VN

I can't say I can recommend a comedy-based VN, since the bulk of what /jp/ likes are tear-jerkers.

Try this site: http://vndb.org/

Hm... you might like "Snow Sakura". It pretty much fits all of your criteria.

OMGWTFOTL is the only short comedy VN I can think of. And none of the longer ones are pure comedy.

thanks, I'm checking it's vndb sheet.

I'm accepting more suggestions. Do somebody has one of those neat recommendation charts?

>> No.4379768

Get Cross Channel or Edelweiss or Words Worth. They are (trying to be at least) funny at places, and are good decent VNs in my opinion.

Albeit not comedy, but if you liked Saya, you should play the recently translated Kikokugai too (no choices in this).

Short and funny? Doesn't exist, at least short like Planetarian, Saya, or Narcissu.

Long and funny? Try Magikoi or Rui wa Tomo o Yobu.

I think I played that a couple years ago, though now that you made me remember, I might replay it again. [x]Genuflect

thanks. I'm checking those too. Good thing I just made myself a vndb account, the wishlist thingy comes really handy.

>Short and funny

Brass Restoration. Pretty fun, little to no retarded drama (well, except the part where protagonist gets a metal arm and pulls a Darth Vader on his girlfriend with it), just attempts at comedy.

I thought it had a fair amount of drama but it's pretty good. Might be longer than what the OP is looking for though ("short" is pretty vague).

This is the best thing we have to a reccomendation chart.

Also, there aren't many comedy VNs that would make sense in English. Since the Japanese like to rely on puns and folklore and whatnot for their humor, a lot of their jokes wouldn't make sense in English, thus the lack of comedy VNs.

Though we could recommend something laughably bad if you'd like.

Also, I remember laughing at some parts when playing those games as a kid, so the humor might be fine (or maybe I just laugh easily)

Kira Kira, Clannad and Snow Sakura are the funniest translated VNs by far, but Kira Kira and Clannad have more of an emphasis on the drama, while Snow Sakura is pretty lighthearted all the way through but only really has 1 or 2 routes worth playing.

But Key games are some of the funniest that have been translated, even if they have sad moments.

Really OP if you want good comedy you're going to have to play some of the longer ones. Cross Channel, Family Project, ONE, Kanon, Clannad, Eve, Desire, Sharin no Kuni. They all have strong comedy even if they combine it with other genres.

Saki definitely, and, depending on who you ask, maybe Kozue and/or Rei. The best part of the game, though, is the common route, so I'd suggest playing through it once through Saki's route to get the most out of it.

It also has more choices than you seemed to want, but there are several english walkthroughs easily available through google.

thanks, I don't actually despise multiple choices, I just thought it would be better for my so called training. I will start playing the big stuff after I'm done with a few short games which will serve me to get in the mood.
