How come Chen is way more popular in the west than in Japan?

Old memes and the West moves on slower than Japan, at least from my perspective. Even in the West Chen is one of the hus I associate most with old fans, not necessarily because of anything petty, but she doesn't have much traction or newer works for older fans to get into.
I'd also say the "cute" brand of humor Chen thrives at appeals less than it used to, perhaps due to the increasing amount of these type of characters filling the same niche with maybe only the household changing. If you've seen the popularity polls you may notice that cute animal girls like Aunn or Mike see stratospheric drops past their 1st year. Chen has an old guard preventing that but she's not really gaining anyone new especially with the Yakumo household doing shit all especially her & Ran.
I think Chen's probably one of the characters I see the least whenever I go looking for images on Futaba.
