Eventually me and my siblings got tired of being NEETs and we taught ourselves stuff. Me and my brother learned how to code. He works at Google.

As for social stuff I've become friends with my coworkers but because I'm an introvert I try to stay away from them. Overall I wouldn't recommend parents do what mine did.

The NEET situation got so bad that a USA senator ended up passing a law due to what happened in my family. My parents were addicts and used welfare money to go out partying while me and my siblings stayed in abandoned houses. My sister got lured away by a neighbor who promised her candy and he murdered her. According to the news reports we were dirty and some of us had skin diseases/stds. My sister was taking care of us despite her being a child herself. We ended up in foster care for a while. But I guess my mom never learned her lesson because she took us out of school, homeschooled us for only one year, and then let us play video games and watch anime for the next 19 years.

We owned every video game console and played pretty much every game worth mentioning. By 2005 I had watched over 300 anime and people on old /a/ started mocking me and calling me:

From my perspective I never saw it as abuse. My mom let me do whatever I wanted and always bought whatever we asked for. Despite being poor the kids in our neighborhood thought we were rich due to all the games we owned. But as an adult I realize this is not how you should raise your children.

There's nothing to feel sorry for. After we got out of foster care my mom spoiled us with video games, designer clothes, and let us watch anime all day. We did whatever we wanted for 19 years with no curfews or chores. I'm currently a senior programmer and my brother works at Google, so it turned out well in the end. I just have regrets on missing out on high school drama and social interactions. To this day I don't know how mail works or how to apply for an apartment. Or how to setup a doctor appointment. Someone needs to create a NEET survival guide series on youtube for people who were never taught those things.

The blueprint to getting a high paying job is to start small. Take an unpaid internship or a really low paying job that is relevant to your major and move up the ladder. I didn't have a degree so I applied for a junior programmer position which was way below my experience level (having coded for so long as a teenager), but in 4 years I was making $33 an hour.
