idk to me anki is primarily about the reading, because meanings and usage of words can be so vast and I don't want to spend loads of time in anki drilling over multiple so as long as i have a basic definition associated with the word i'll hit good
then i expand on usage and meaning through immersion and dictionary lookups
seems to be working ok for now, but even a tiny black smudge stands out on a blank paper, i could very well be the next nuke

Subbed anime will help you more than manga if you're at the level where novels are still too much to handle, especially if you're not doing regular listening to compliment the manga sessions(especially since youre foregoing voiced VNs entirely for LNs only).
