Oddly enough, it's one of the songs that really don't have any of the famous ZUNpets.
I get that that was mainly from PCB, but now that I think about it, it's not exactly all that common compared to how people think.

Bro, I read it yesterday in a single sitting: it's utterly abysmal. To tackle the "thesis" part:

-Basically informal register for the most part, certainly not befitting a thesis. The tone gets annoyingly emphatic and praising whenever any aspect of the game or characters is discussed. The nadir of properness is easily the acknowledgements section ("the various WRYYYs that would randomly kick off". I'm not kidding.), but I guess professors won't read it?
-In general, the choice of words is very poor, both when it comes to ordinary language and the terminology of the games and the otaku world as a whole.
-The few times he quotes "academic" literature, it creates this whiplash where he's suddenly writing in technical terms, regardless of what came before and after. Such references don't even add much meaningful depth on their own: they attempt to embellish otherwise simple concepts (and prove he's done "research", I guess).
-Among the references, we've got a couple of Reddit posts. Even putting the disbelief aside and trying to argue that the thesis does want to highlight the fandom aspect of the phenomenon, they aren't nothing to write home about, so they end up as a testimony that "some guy on the Internet said 2hu is super cool".
-A bunch of digressions interrupt the discussion of the Touhou main topic, in what is already a quite short thesis (especially for a magistrale degree). It doesn't help that a lot of paragraphs essentially repeat previous info.
-The discussion of pretty much every element is done in a very factual and divulgative presentation. There's no revelatory insight or added value to what is already present, it's just a compilatory enumeration of cursory facts that goes nowhere. I doubt the commissioners were anxious to know who Alice Margatroid or Sanae Kochiya and what their superpowers are.
-A bunch of statements are just thrown there apodictically. ZUN combined the elements proper to VNs with the danmaku genre? Ok, now I expect to know what said elements are and how he performed such an operation. You don't get either. You're just told he did.
-Why is everything in roumaji? Where are the kanji? This is a degree in Languages, the guy cliams to have studied Japanese and the titles are all available on the Internet. And while I "can" understand listing a bunch of 2hus with the last name first, why Alice and Patchouli as well? They're Western characters with Western names.
-Pretty much all information is to some degree inaccurate, flat out wrong or contradictory. This last flaw pertains to the internal coherence of the composition, which denotes a glaring lack of attention and can be noticed even by laymen, as it doesn't involve game knowledge: first he correctly says the Music Room has been there since HRtP, then he says SoEW introduced it; first he says you need to beat Lunatic to unlock EX, then he remembers you only need a 1cc.

Regarding inaccuracies and errors within the series itself (which aren't going to get noticed by the commissioners, who certainly couldn't care less about 2hu, even moreso after such a miserable thesis), this is the biggest problem of the entire thing: you can tell this guy is a colossal secondary.
Yes, he claims to have spent "various hours" playing "emulated versions of the first titles" and to have known the series since 2009. But every single mention of the games or the worldbuilding shows anything but that: in fact, the general impression is that of a complete noob who at best consumes derivative works and hastily cobbled up a bunch of factoids from clicking random wiki articles.
I say "hastily" because the majority of the mistakes aren't misinterpretation or slight inaccuracies, they're gross errors on rudimentary facts that could have been easily avoided by spending more than two minutes on a single wiki article. Instead, we usually get the usual secondary cliches with Alice "secretly infatuated of Marisa" (btw, according to him, given ZUN's circle, she's one of ZUN's most beloved characters. Yeah, about that...) or Rinnosuke "providing items and advice in the spin-offs" (???).
Oh, and amidst the various works of the Touhou universe (where stuff like Samidare gets thrown in; meanwhile official literature is grouped together with fanworks), there's no mention of the music CDs, despite his mention of "Maribel Han". So he's aware of this character, but he doesn't know where she comes from? And he doesn't know either why we can safely say her last name is "Hearn" even though her inspiration that links her to Yukari is one of the very first things you're bound to learn while reading about her character?
The characters who get mentioned, along with said secondary cliches, are quite telling too: while there is acknowledgment of more recent works (which, at this point, are clearly pulled from the wiki and certainly not experienced firsthand), the "newest" named 2hu who appears is Tenshi.

The overall impression is that of the stereotypical secondary who only knows the characters from EoSD to SWR through IOSYS PVs and the Bad Apple!! remix video. This archetype might bring someone a nostalgic smile, but the fantasy quickly breaks down when you realize this thesis was written in 2019.
Not 2009 (aside from the references to the existence of more recent entries and the digital distribution of 2hu, this could easily pass as a blog post of a secondary from that era), no, 2019.

The only concession I'm willing to give is that the author seems to have encountered health issues during the work, which prevented him from further analysis. While I want to assume they were serious enough to put him away from work, the result remains inexcusable.
Even disregarding the fact that you're having 2hu of all things as your thesis for your fifth year of uni, I can't imagine anyone ever approving such a composition, which reads like a glorified blog post. The "quality" is, all in all, embarassing.
