Why does everyone assume that Shirou is going to kill Rin in the Mind of Steel ending?

Archer is still in the game at this point and Saber and Lancer aren't. Ilya still has Berserker and she's not going to be happy that you pulled a Daddy and killed the girl you're in love with for the greater good. Unless Kotomine becomes a bro and gives you Gilagmesh as your side kick, Shirou's not going to get far.

Archer's going to kill you to keep you from killing Rin and for being a dumb ass. Ilya's going to kill you for being a dumb ass. And if Kotomine does give you Gilgamesh, Archer can beat him. (And no, lol powerlevels, Archer OUT THINKS King Pika.)

The whole how the hell does Shirou pull this off is what makes Mind of Steel so interesting to me.

I always believed that Shiro would've ended up allying with True Assassin in the Mind of Steel ending.

Killing Sakura will kill Zouken, and True Assassin won't stand for not being able to carry out his wish for immortality.

Shirou ruthlessly kills the Masters using whatever he can to do so. For instance, he pretends to want to ally with Rin, and kills her with her back turned. Ilya, who will die in a year or two anyways, will probably just let Shirou kill her.

Besides those two, I doubt he'll have a problem with the rest of the Masters.

The thing of it is, in this situation Archer is going to be watching Shirou like a hawk. Unless Rin uses her last command seal on him, I think if Shirou tried to ally with Rin at that point Archer would just kill him.

The only way that Shirou would have a chance of winning is if he allied himself with Shinji and became Rider's master. However, I don't see Rider being too friendly with the guy that killed Sakura.

At this point Gil and Berserker are still around. Only Caster, Lancer and Saber have been outed from the game.

So, Shirou could take on True Assassin as a Master, but Berserker and Archer are damned good bodyguards and actually care for their Masters beyond the Master/Servant relationship. And Shirou doesn't have Archer's arm at this point either.

Kotomine doesn't know who Archer is though and doesn't know all the factors involved. Yes, he knows that Shirou's going to turn into Kiritsigu, but Archer became BETTER than Kiritsigu and realized the error of his ways this time around.
