What do you guys think about the potential for AI in language learning? I've heard that it has problems, but I think that the experience of having a 24/7 instant pen-pal is very useful even if it's not 100% accurate.

maybe in 30 years from now I could recommend it if it became as good as a human, but today it makes too many mistakes to consider it seriously.
Besides, what is the point really? Is chatting with a bot more fun than reading a novel by a famous Japanese author? Or is it more fun than talking with a human? I don't think so.

I started about 3 weeks ago and was wondering if there was something else I could do alongside reading the grammar guide. I find I can only read so much about the grammar and retain it in a day.
More so because I don't have the means to practically apply it.

I practice stroke order in between to break up reading of the grammar guide, but that gets boring and eventually will not be useful. Is there any other practical things to do for a beginner? I feel like reading is still beyond me at the moment.

I typically warm up with 15 minutes of reading the Kanas, read grammar for an hour, stroke order for 15, review previous grammar material, then continue reading until I'm mentally fatigued from it.

思ふ 会ふ 言ふ
A thousand years ago the は行 was pronounced with a 'p'.

思ふ omopu 思はぬ omopanu 思ひ omopi
Then it softened into 'h', but still survives in the handakten ゜"half-voiced mark". That's why いち + はい becomes いっぱい.

Then は行 verbs lost their consonant altogether. Then the post-war writing reform changed は行 verbs to be written with あ行 endings (except for わ as in 思わない, to reflect their still-lingering pronunciation).

I've been doing my reps for the past two weeks or so. Should I really be doing immersion at this point when I can't read or understand most of what I'm hearing? Usually, the things that I do understand are not because of the words I've encountered from grinding anki, but from 5 years of Japanese listening osmosis from anime and associating certain sounds with general sentiments and meanings.
Grammar feels like a mess as well, because I don't know how to practice it without any feedback. The only real content I can really practice reading with are the titles of youtube videos and maybe very short twitter posts that don't have kanji I haven't seen yet.

I try to aim for stuff that's just above my pay grade when it comes to immersion. I wanna catch most of the content, vocab and context. That said, I do recommend occasionally sitting down with something incomprehensible and picking it apart piece by piece. It's good practice in terms of analysis techniques and research for when you genuinely get stumped during regular study. And vary up your immersion content, too. Find ads, recipe books, song lyrics, dramas, find stuff outside your comfort zone in terms of content so you can really stretch your legs and see things in different contexts so you get a feel for how certain terms are being used.

I've been trying to use Tofugu to begin memorizing kana. Early on it seemed fine but pretty quickly the mnemonics started getting fucking retarded and I feel like I'm wasting my time with increasingly trash input.

The itazuraneko site doesn't seem to have mnemonics for hiragana/katakana.

I'm really hoping there's a better source with mnemonics because it feels like they can be really useful to get started on this. I'm pretty comfortable picking out 15 hiragana, days later, because of Tofugu.

I don't get the ending of あんた半分人間じゃないしな
I put it on ichi.moe, which separates じゃないしな in 3 parts. Still don't get it.
This can't mean "you aren't half-human", since the sentence after explains that her father is a dragon.
