now I watch with them off, and if I come across a sentence where I didn't catch what they were saying I go back a few seconds and press the subtitles hotkey.
my advice is to always use subtitled until you don't need them, I think they helped me get to where I am now faster. I also did lots of raw listening at work so it's possible watching without subs would have been uneccesaru for that reason but I strongly get the sense the people who tell you you need to watch without subs are just wrong
especially if you're a noob with a small vocab seeing all the words as the characters talk is tremendous for growing and reinforcing that
