Good games, Lurker. I think I'm all Soku'd out for now. I was really surprised when you decided to face me using all of my secondaries! Your Sakuya and Tenshi were pretty good.

I only used Tenshi because while I enjoy playing as her (and used to have her as a secondary), I haven't really bothered with her much in Soku. I think it's because having to press 6 to get a drill rock to come out is too much effort for me.

I've been messing around with Marisa lately but I'm really awful at her so derp.

It feels like they nerfed Tenshi's 66C in 1.10, but it could just be my imagination. I swear I remember it having more graze frames, though.

My Marisa is probably just as bad if not worse than yours, but that Busky Sweeper change is just painful. Ah well, I have my hands full with Meiling, Sakuya, Tenshi, and Cirno anyway.

Good beatings, Idler! Seriously stop playing so well with all the characters. And I should stop sucking as well, that would help. I don't remember winning any match against you, today. I ate so much spellcards that I stopped counting them around the 20th. I'm starting to think that I can't improve anymore with Suika, maybe I should try some other characters.

See you around next time, it's really nice to play without any delay at all, even when your opponent beats the crap out of you.

GGs _Akagi_.
I have a match in another game later today, so I had to leave for now.

I'm a lot better with Youmu than any other character, but my main problem against your Suika is that Youmu has no good graze attacks, which makes it a lot harder to attack you. Alt 214 was the only proper graze attack, but it takes forever to start now. Overall, I won many matches thanks Youmu's AAA to spellcard -combos.

Looks like Overhead Flower-Pruning Slash is useless against Suika, you always had some projectiles in the air so I couldn't use it.

Btw, when you use Missing Purple Power, you could try using some other punches than the straight punch and the ground punch that creates a wave. When wrongblocked, all punches in giant form are a guard crush, I think. Now I could block all your attacks even in the corner.

Most grazing specials still graze on startup like Yukaris parasol spin, Remis 236, Sakuyas 623, Tenshis 623, Youmus 623c and surprisingly Yuyus fanspin.

Haha, I didn't even know that. Thanks for the tip, I'll try to add some other punches, that'll definitely be more efficient than: a 2c 2c 2c a. I'm sure some good Suika player can tell me what usueful strings there are when using MPP.

If you can, try to watch Duckator play. I don't really remember what he does with Sakuya, but I've never beaten him in a Sakuya mirror yet.

As for myself, I use hj(7,8,9) j.5C for approaching.

Blockstrings: 5AAAA (slightly stagger the last hit, will catch people too eager to escape with dashing and jumping). Once people start blocking, consider (5AA / 5A) 5B hj9 j.2B j.6D j.6A as a way for pushing people toward the corner. Another mixup is 5A(A) 6A 6A / 5B. 6A after 6A is an interesting frametrap that catches people trying to dash forward expecting 5B (Guy used it to great effect against me yesterday). 5B will spirit drain and help push to the corner.

In the corner, try something like (5A / 5AA / 5AAA / 5A 6A / 5AA 6A / 2A / 2A 6A) 2B hj9 (j.2A j.2B / j.2B) j.6D (j.5A / j.5A j.2A / j.5A j.2A j.2B j.6D j.5A j.2A) reset. Everything after getting your opponent to block 2B is essentially airtight, virtually guaranteeing an orb crush on the blockstring or first repetition of it unless your opponent knows when to Border Escape.

It's much better than the saitek's, ps2, etc d-pads. It won't hurt you finger and you will be able to do the motions easily.

But only buy the ones from Sega ("control pad" boxes), the bootleg American versions suck.

It's MUCH better. Believe me. I had a USB ps2 controller and the Satapad simply destroys it. However, the button layout is the main attraction of the satapad. Much easier to perform multiple button presses, sliding techniques, etc.

I know what it looks like, what I want to know about is specifics that can't really be understood by just looking at a picture. I mean, offhand the d-pad looks like complete shit, even the one in that ebay auction. I hate d-pads that have that shitty "plastic webbing" between the 90 degree angle buttons, but I haven't actually used it myself, so I dunno if it actually gets in the way or not

Plus, while the extra buttons on the face are nice, I dunno how much help they'd really be. Usually I can do just fine with the shoulder buttons on a PS2 controller

I dunno, you guys tell me. Is there anyone here that has used both a PS2 and Saturn controller that prefers the Saturn?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llQlcb9N1G4

However, only kids pretending to be cool play that way. Don't be mislead. People will use thumbs or play with an arcade stick.

Also, IaMP/SWRS doesn't really require multiple button presses. Claw-style is only recommended for games that rely heavily on them. But you should be using arcade sticks, in that case.

The saturn pad is simply better than the ps2, saitek, etc alternatives. It has nothing to do with the claw-style.

"Visible" plastic webbing, if that's what you wanna call what's between the 90 degree directional buttons in this picture, has been a goddamn plague on the industry that refuses to die. Maybe you enjoy it for some ungodly reason, in which case more power to you. But it does nothing but interfere with you, in my mind

>>4295565

Honestly, if you don't wanna go with this funky "claw" shit that you're hearing about, I'd just go with a regular PS2 controller. Get a USB converter for one if you happen to have an old controller laying around, they're only like 8 bucks or so on ebay iirc. Four shoulder buttons, two analog sticks, all the face buttons you'll ever need, on top of what I maintain to this day is the best d-pad design ever invented. You can't fucking ask for more

If you are gunna be playing other fighting games as well, though, you may consider just getting an arcade stick. Honestly, I've considered switching to an arcade stick, but Hisoutensoku doesn't require anything near the kind of complex inputs that would make an arcade stick worth it. So, if you're just shopping for something for 12.3, a PS2 controller is fine. If you'll be playing other fightans in the future, like maybe Blazblue coming out on the PC, or Street Fighter 4 or something, then consider dropping 20 or 30 dollars on an arcade stick

GGs Alpaca. We have played so many times that I don't know what else to say. You keep improving.

Alright good games, still can't win once. Keep making the mistake of jumping up and trying to block.

>....on an unrelated note, does anybody know how to get Okuu's last spellcard? Is there some sort of trick? I've played tons of matches with her and I still don't have it.

Not sure about this, but I think the cards you get after a match are some of the ones you and your opponent used during that match, as well as a few random ones, that are not dependent on the characters you used. Best way to unlock cards is netplay since most players already have all cards unlocked. Of course you could just use the full card unlock file from the wiki:

what exactly does the /x mean in the card listings? like 4/99, 4/14 and stuff. is there a way to get them all to be /99?

It's how many cards you have unlocked of that type, although any more than 4 is useless. I had all in 99 in SWR with some characters, it just stops there, although the new ones you get are still counted and transferred to Soku, where the limit is probably 999. I currently have over 400 of some skill cards.

GGs hisouten/01av. It was you, right? Judging by the gameplay it seems you're just getting started with soku. Create a deck, practice, remember to use dash to avoid getting hit by bullets, block, do a lot of online plays in order to get better and most importantly - have fun.

Hey, excellent games Duckator, thanks a lot for playing. I think I learned a lot today thanks to you.
I'm always impressed at the number of characters you can play...

See you around next time, if fighting always the same character doesn't bother you!

Good games. It didn't look like you knew how to handle pressure too well. You should remember that you can't mash out of a blockstring, you were eating bullets almost every time you tried. Also, if you try to jump on wakeup or airtech low to the ground you'll get hit by air unblockable attacks like Komachi and Reisen's 66A.

Oh no, it doesn't bother me at all. Your Sukia is always fun to fight.

Do you guys play with the keyboard or gamepad?
I have a nice controller, but the main joystick keeps going towards the right at random, sometime constantly.

Highjump when you think they're going to throw bullets or border escape if you're feeling lucky. You could also dash forwards if they're in the air but that could just be a trap to hit you with a j2a. The most important thing is to keep blocking until you see a clear opening and waiting until you get out of pressure to start attacking again. It might be a good idea to put some of Iku, Reimu or Komachi's system cards in your deck.

Also, this thread is on autosage if someone wants to make a new one.
