Touhou fangames often fall into the trap of shamelessly pandering to eosd. They think the general fanbase only knows about eosd and a few popular characteds from other games, namely youmu, sanae, and reisen.

Thing is the eosd incident really wasnt that interesting, there's only so much you can squeeze out of "oh no there's red mist!!!"

Also guarantee that eosd banners like e1 flan and remilia are the highest sellers. Problem with NN is that they think eosd alone will sell characters. Most people give no fucks about rumia, daiyousei, or koakuma, so they wont sell unless they have a meta kit

Yes. You no longer need 200 copies of Scarlet Witch because the game can now remember which cards you used in set-ups so just having a few cards is already enough to pass around. They also reworked the battles for limited cards so you can more easily get 1 full power copy of it without having to run 5000 battles.

Lots of good characters need the Black Youmu and Blue Reimu card. Okina card is also useful for plenty of characters. The only one which is mostly useless is the one dropped from the new Marisa since it is missile damage which pretty much no good character besides MV Kanako uses.

For Example: Party Night is much MUCH better than UBT if you have someone who can make use of all the effects (Hecatia for example)

Doesn't global have the same VS rework as the jap version by now? You can just bring 6 characters and brute force each stage until you get a full copy just by having beaten the final stage. I have not farmed a single card since the rework. I just clear all stages once and keep the one card. Can just swap it around as needed.

Judging by some of the screenshots I took, I think I eventually decided that the easiest play would be to not try to remove all the locks at all and straight up have the front row killed to switch. I had Mokou in the 2nd row and the characters who were in battle when it was over were Sagume, Reimu and Mokou. I never record anything so I think that's how it went down. I do remember wondering myself how you are supposed to clear it without anyone dying and trying to bring Tewi + Mokou resulting in not enough damage so characters would die anyway. Only having 2 shields meant that there wasn't any way to have set-up turns since you would eat 1 enemy attack if you tried that.

I thought you meant for the final clear only. You don't really need much for the floors up to lvl 100. I even did a silly clear of floor 100 using only Hecatia variants but that one isn't really for auto-pilot since it has status effect RNG. You can just brute force a lot of it. This is the final screenshot I took of one of my teams before I got to lvl 120. They never lock your spells or boost so you can go in hard on every turn.

Hecatia is cute and useful. Here she is helping out in lvl 120. Having all 3 Hecatia variants also makes your account blessed instead of bricked. Kanako does help with electro status breaks but I never really cared about her all that much. She probably has the most boring animations in the entire game, even worse than Blue Reimu. She does deal pretty good damage though and she is pretty much the only good character who has a missile LW which is something that stands out.
