OH GOD FINALLY

that was, without a doubt, the single most frustrating game boss ever.
Is UFO easier?

>> No.4280792

it's hard getting used to the ufo system but not as hard as SA was

>> No.4280798

I thought SA was easier than MoF...

MOF more like bomb as marisa B to win

>>4280792
I see.. well at certain point I just give up trying to score well (PCB is the only one that I truly have a good grasp on) so I think I can live with that.

>>4280798
MOF took me maybe 2 weeks of playing to beat (about 1/2 hour every day?), while SA took me maybe 3 months. But then again I haven't played as often for SA and I didn't watch replays for SA either..

Clearly you have never experienced
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSCkDtDlwNA
the daioujou white label 2-2 boss. Sure there are harder bosses out there, but the level of "ok im gonna make it through this 2 pixel gap between lightspeed bullets-- FUCK" frustration is just off the charts.

Also, Utsuho is one of the easiest Touhou final bosses for me.

UFO is waaaaay easier on normal

SA's normal isn't very different from it's hard. The gap between easy and normal on SA is huge.

If you use Sanae B you'll have no problem. I just finished 1ccing UFO with Reimu A on my second try and she's a bit more difficult to use.

Some of the spells from that tiger bitch are stupid hard and Byakuren can be a real bitch. I'm lookin' at you Flying Fantastica and Air Scroll.

UFO's stage 4 and CAPTAIN MURASA is some of the most fun you'll ever have in a touhou game.

>> No.4280931

SA and UFO = "easy" as fuck. Literally. Because I can only finish it with easy modo.

>> No.4280938

>>4280863
are you kidding? Utsuho is easily the hardest. Hell, there isn't much difference between her spells (with the exception of the second one) from normal to hard

>UFO's stage 4 and CAPTAIN MURASA is some of the most fun you'll ever have in a touhou game.
I would extend that to say 4, 5 and 6, and their respective bosses, are some of the most fun you'll have in a touhou game. There's virtually no "tap slowly in one direction" and a ton of "holy shit dodge them bullets". As for survival difficulty, it probably varies a lot depending on the player. SA is a lot slower with more "puzzle" patterns where you have to basically know what's coming ahead of time, UFO is virtually the opposite, as far as Touhou games go.

>>4280931
learn the levels and grind for bombs/lives.

As far as SA, you're fucked, even with Reimu A.

Also I forgot to mention the TAITO LASERS in stage 5's boss. Fucking awesome.

>> No.4280989

No way in hell. Half her attacks are gimmes. Her last 2 spellcards get way easier with practice/skill. You can also usually pick up 1 last extra life while fighting her, if you're careful, which has saved me on many close 1CCs.

>> No.4281007

SA honestly didn't give me that much of a hard time after I learned to doll spam Orin and Utsuho. I got to Utsuho with 9 lives and I'm fairly sure I ended with like 6 or 7 by the end of the game. I can't tell now though since my replay desyncs on Utsuho for some reason.

>> No.4281009

UFO has some of my favorite spells across the entire series. If Zun's improved in one way it's easily the spells and the beautiful danmaku patterns.

Only nostalgia fags consider his music to be worse, it's about as good as his previous work with a couple gems too. Nazrin's theme comes to mind, probably the best stage 1 boss theme of all time.

And his drawing is also an improvement.

>> No.4281010

I always thought Utsuho was an insanely bullshit hard boss in an otherwise easy game. After a while, I got the hang of Orin, but Utsuho just wrecks my shit every time. The random dropping suns card, the rotating suns card, and her final card. All of them feel like fuckin Flandre cards to me.

>> No.4281025

>>4280954
And then I would extend that to stage 3 as well. I really like the fairy patterns on that stage. And then, of course, brofist and his girl.

>> No.4281026

>>4281009
EoSD had the best music. Nothing since has matched it. If you mean UFO's music is as good as 7-11, then yes, I agree.

>> No.4281037

>>4281010
Different people have different skills, I guess. I thought her final card was hard until I started capping it every time.

rotating sun: "Ahaha what's this, rotating suns? what a weak card, these giant suns are so easy to graze that - wait what just hit me?...oh. well it's still doabl-wait what's that yellow thing next to my hitbo-FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF"

>> No.4281070

>>4281026
Are you kidding me?

EoSD's only good song is the now-very-overplayed UN Owen and Beloved Tomboyish Daughter.

Septette for the Dead Princess is expectantly good as it's Remila's theme, but aside from those 3 gems the music was bland and the tunes not catchy in the least.

>> No.4281083

Rotating Sun, the giant flares can be completely avoided on a somewhat small horizontal threshold.

Just strafe to the left and right to dodge the yellow bullets and the red flares won't touch you.

Of course, I never have to do this because I'm a man--and it's also the only piss-easy spell Utsuho has other than her final spell.

But chinese teahouse was the best song in eosd

so expect more like PCB level 4 kind of danmaku? I hope so, cause that's what I am good at.

What I found hard about SA is that it just relies on you to stop thinking and let your fingers and eyes do the work. Good example is okuu's second last card, I will somehow manage to wriggle through all those bullets but then the second I try to think about what to do I fuck up. Can't stand that, and I feel like from MoF that's been how a lot of the cards are. (I feel like the older games had more "think ahead" kind of dodging though, I found lots of the SA cards to be incredibly erratic despite being puzzly, as you described)

>> No.4281104

this.

I thought IN had the best music, followed by the PCB from stage 3 on and MOF (tie)

Try doing it with Marisa. You'll clip the suns and not be able to find the safespot again, resulting in 5 lives and a failed 1cc. If you do it right, sure, it's not bad, but it's got one of the highest chances of fucking you up several times in a row.

>> No.4281138

All opinions that don't value PCB as having the best music are sadly mistaken.

>> No.4281146

lol what

the safespot area is HUGE
like literally 7-ish hitbox-widths wide and 3 high in the center, in an upside down arc shape obviously.

Oh yeah any tips on the last spellcard? I just panic once the pulling speeds up and start bombing..

>> No.4281164

>> No.4281174

UFO's music is really good but it's overall more mature than the other games (despite being silly, hard to explain) so it's no surprise it's less popular.

>> No.4281189

>>4281155
don't be afraid to just sit still while the small white pellets move outwards.

You shift left and right, moving outwards so the large red bullets are as easy as remembering that they alternate.

Also don't be afraid to let go of shift for a split second or to, similar to Orin's midstage spell in 6
