A gintama or uta no prince doujin, more than 10 years ago. I started as an otomefag but I wanted MORE nsfw. Then I came upon chou no doku or persona opera cgs on tumblr and learned about their existence. Tumblr was very much alive back in early 2010s and really fun, they even uploaded the games at otome and bl dedicated blogs. Then I found taishou mebiusline but as a complete EOP and without knowing the art of mtl, it was impossible to play, so I just played it for the dicks and swords. Wish I was 10 years younger, since I had a lot of time and energy back then unlike now. Would finish more than 10 games in a month, unlike now that it takes me more than 3 to just finish one.

Well, despite going against the BL concept, it doesn't need to be romantic or sexual at all IMO.
The two definitely had something special going on between them, especially when Shishiku proposed Kageaki to join him as his brother in arms in the true route. I just think it's a missed opportunity to not expand upon the potential friendship. It's an unfortunate side effect in the genre where the relationships with the main girls take greater precedence even if it's not being exceptionally well done.

Though, it makes me wonder how much the author had to cut down content and appeal to his supervisors or what.That whole ending just strikes me as bizarre when the fight between edgelord egg'd Kageaki + tsurugi Chachamaru vs. Raicho had to be omitted since Narahara always goes full autismo with his fight scenes. For what purpose, really? You introduced all that kino and then it ends like that? Next to Muramasa, Chachamaru is probably my 2nd favorite girl. Did her dirty.

I loved pregnant Kageaki and I'm a bit bummed we didn't get to see more of that side of him :[ I was basically buzzing with hype during the whole lead up to that fight scene. I agree, the editors or someone must have pushed for a content cut, considering there was so much build up around Raicho being the strongest, and then the Kotetsu reveal... such a buzzkill. At least we got this CG!! I would've been totally ok and down for 10-20 hours more content though honestly...
I really wish we got more Chacha content too. I think her route was the only route where I felt pretty unsatisfied at the end. Ichijo, Kanae and Muramasa all have a pretty good amount of content (Kanae was my favourite ending after the true ending... actually who am I kidding, I could've read at least 5 hours more of Muramasa SoL). In comparison Chacha's route feels so short, especially since there was a big shared component with Muramasa's. Kageaki holding her as she dies in Muramasa's route was nice and bittersweet though...

Man I actually loved Doushin by the end of the game, maybe as much as Shishiku, if not slightly (just slightly) more (Shishiku is cuter tho uwu). He was so friggin unexpectedly funny and kino. Muramasa is the only danseimuke vn I've read with such a good, strong cast of male side characters (I'll admit I haven't read much of these though).

All this Muramasa talk makes me want to reread it sisters....

The Sorimachi vs Kageaki fight was probably my favourite fight in the entire game. Hard decision between this and the final fight vs Hikaru which was awesome for other reasons. Definitely another based character who deserved more homo tension

About other games, wickedwhims on sims 4 based and what motivates me to play the sims 4. Sims 2 is my personal favorite tho. Was into imvu more than a decade ago, but there were some real disgusting creeps out there so i noped out.

I have tons of fun building love triangles and making my yanderes kill each other kek. Once you set up the game, definitely check out the card database and check out what's popular:

I don't mean this as a direct comparison, but I think of it as horror in the same sort of way as something like Fear & Hunger or Kedamonotachi no Jikan (or at least the earlier chapters before it got even more weird). That's fair, I think it depends on how you play the game. If you play full slut/nympho mode, I don't think the game has the same consistently oppressive, helpless atmosphere as Fear & Hunger for example, unless you're very early in a run and you don't really know what to do, or you end up in a soft bad end run. The game is dark by default because so many mechanics and relationships centre around sexual assault but I think it's always been pretty dating sim adjacent.

At any rate, to answer >>42802512's question, the game has a lot more content if it's been years since you've played. If you liked Eden there's a ton of new content for him and new characters like Ivory Wraith (spooky eldritch monster with some mindbreak) and Sydney (a very religious classmate that you can corrupt).

I think I rented a copy of More Friends of Mineral Town when I was 8 years old from the local Rogers Video, and was introduced to dating elements in video games. Fell super hard for Cliff and then I was just locked into 2D romance from there.

BL introduction was likely looking up fanfic for shounenshit or JRPGs that had bickering rival characters, and being exposed to all the LJ content.

The all ages version of the VN waters down some content, including Majima, somewhat significantly if you ask me. It's the only version accessible to EOPs. I don't think it's the translation's fault either.

I liked the choudoku character designs because they went for more of a period feeling than historical VNs tend to (even if it's not actually accurate to the early 1920s, pretty sure most of the western dresses you see Yuriko in at least are decades out of style). But Majima just has yeah, a typical ikemen design.
Looking generic to match the MC is a common trait to sibling characters in VNs however.

Let's be real here. Majima has a typical eroge protagonist design. He looks generic as fuck because of the short brown hair, more so if he's not wearing his hakama. If you removed all the other guys and have him with a bunch of moeblobs, he could easily fit as one.
Ikeman designs nowadays are actually often more overly designed than anything. ex. gachas like genshin and several otomate games
The most charming part of Majima is his expressions and once you actually get to know him.

Honestly design wise Dante was my favourite. It's a shame if he truly is the shittiest character then. I did liked Piofiore but it's more for the art direction, music and character designs. Nicola was my favorite since I'm a sucker for haraguro and he's also voiced by Kimura. He probably had one of the worst routes objectively, though. Zero chemistry with Lili. Dunno if the FD changed anything but I feel so done with Otomate goyslop sometimes. Too fucking long with mediocre writing. I can only accept that for chuunige nowadays.

They’re both good games, but I do admit that the gameplay might not be for everyone.
Lobotomy Corp in particular is infamous for it’s exponentially increasing difficulty and require more than one total reset/new game + in order to get the true ending. So while Library of Ruina is the direct sequel to LobCorp, it is the easier one to get into if you’re mostly here for the story. The general consensus from the PM threads is also to try to pirate them at first to see if you like the games, as they aren’t any proper demos.

As for the boys, the cast have a split 50:50 gender ratio and there's no romance between the main cast at all. If you looking for BL/fujo material there's an all-but-confirmed homo old man (he has a younger form if you're not into that) and LoR's MC is generally pretty shippable with the rest of the boys.
Most characters also look pretty androgynous, see pic related for average PM's character design.

I've only completed one route so far (out of four). It's slow-paced but not in a boring way. The choice system is unique and takes some getting used to (kind of reminds me of an adventure game), but once you grasp what's going on, it starts to feel intuitive; if you're one to use a walkthrough, I'd say consider it more like a set of recommendations and play around with things. The otome that I like I like a lot but I think I like non romance-focused and plot eroge more in general compared to otome. In those games there’s less focus on the male MC being a certain trope (with all the exaggerated VA and often effeminate designs and personalities) which makes me cringe a bit, and the stories are usually better than otome stuff too unless it’s moege or harem trash. I never really liked romance to begin with so a lot of otome is too cringe.

Same, which is why I can't into otome at all. It might not be my preference, but I don't have anything against het. I draw the line at eroge exactly because usually it's decidedly less romantic than straight joseimuke stuff. Dark BL falls in the same category as eroge for me. When the romance is muted I like it, when it isn't I avoid like the plague.

The better eroge titles tend to all have low quality romance to the point where it doesn't even need to exist. Muramasa and Dies Irae are such examples, especially the latter.
I personally still like otome but only for the sake of enjoying attractive men. Oftentimes, the art direction and music makes me overlook the writing where it's just the vibe that counts a lot to me. Despite those issues, I do think some VNs can do romance decently, but only if it's taken seriously as its main focus and the lead is not some bland fuck that has no business with any of the LIs. I get why yumes/moebutas love that shit, but it's objectively banal cringe no matter how much you look at it.

The protagonist in moege only needs to exist to the point where he can bounce off the girls. The game isn't about him, but the characters whom he interacts with. Moege doesn't need complex protagonists because the point isn't to tell a deep story. It's fine if it's not for you, there's plenty of plotge with interesting main characters, but that doesn't mean you need to hate on moege. It's quite good at what it sets out to do.

I'd say yes and I'm pretty picky with my otome. Code Realize is more vanilla and fluffy but ultimately felt better developed in terms of characterization and the plot compared to Steam Prison. It's quite good for a longer title by Otomate. The LIs are all interesting where the MC is actually pretty proactive and dynamic.
Steam Prison is still a fun read but I do think it's heavily carried by the setting and art direction/music rather than the actual writing.

For otome, I like TaiAli's romance a lot. For on-screen chemistry Yurika and Alice or Yurika and Akazukin are very fun to read through. For more "off-screen, plot centric romance" (is there even a word for this?), Wizard's route hits me pretty hard when you realize the reason he can't accept his Yurika is because he's afraid of treating her as just a subtitute/replacement for the real one. There's also the additional guilt from his hypocrisy of killing the previous Yurikas because "they aren't real", despite him and those Yurikas being essentially the same type of being. So he refuse to love or acknowledge his Yurika to lessen his own guilt.

For truly off topic stuff, I still think Elisabeth das Musical is peak romance.

You can always emulate with either ryujinx/yuzu if you're fine with that sort of thing. Most switch otome titles play perfectly and look good at higher res.

Somehow, a nip fujo artist I followed randomly started drawing it last year. Then I found out somehow a lot of Austrian (specifically Kunze's) musical have a Japanese version and sometimes even more successful than their original counterpart. Since nips seems to like musicals, musical otome when? And I don't mean theater setting like Jack Jeanne but something more like a 90s disney movie where you'll get an unskippable cutscene with musical numbers sang by the characters and properly animated MV during key moments.
