Hello, /jp/. I'm currently in a very temporary living location but I don't wish to buy a full on western bed just to move it in a year. Does anyone have any experience with shikibutons and any recommended companies to buy them from?

I got one from J-Life which is pricier than the stuff you'd find on Amazon but it's fucking legit. Soft, but firm enough to help my back issues, smells real earthy after airing out in the sun, very portable. Ended up getting a kakefuton off them a year later that was also stellar.

Isn't that just an air mattress?

I've heard J-Life is a scam that resells Gold Bond futon mattresses, but that could just be a rumor.

What about FutonBedsFromJapan or FutonTokyo?

Haven't heard much about them. A cursory search shows FutonTokyo as seemingly well received and it's much the same with FutonBedsFromJapan though with much less reviews.

They definitely are, even on the tag you can see it was made in America. That being said though, it's not just rebranded, it's 100% cotton and doesn't seem to have any foam layers in it. Not "authentic" Japanese, but way better than half the other ones you'll find in the English world that are aimed towards the futon bed.
At least it's made in America, and smells like cotton when aired out.
