Okay lets break it down.
Diablo 1. Played it for the first time in younger years. Scared the shit out of me. Didnt got past the butcher.
Diablo 2. Played it used Barbarian. Pwned everything in normal mode with all-in bash skill. Dropped it in nightmare mode. Simply changed game. Was young back then.
Diablo 2. Replayed with Necromancer and played in lan with friends.
Diablo 1. Replayed. This time was not naive. And beated the shit out of the butcher with warrior class.
Diablo 2. Replayed with Paladin and played multiplayer unofficial servers.
Finally. Re-replayed Diablo 2 with Paladin and used skill wisely and owned. Again.

I was never able to play my melee sorc. Just when I had the runes for stone and passion, I couldn't get the right socketed items, exams came up, then something else, and then all characters were deleted.

Maggot lair isn't that bad. The worst are all areas with souls.

Barbarian, Paladin and Elemental Druid have no problems at all, but it's much harder getting good resistance with a bone necromancer.

My Javazon had no problem at all with those spirits. She tanked mobs of them in hell, you just need to raise your lit resist to 85-90ish while also having lit absorb.

They're basically single player MMOs, they appeal to the part of our brain that loves to see numbers go up.

I got addicted to D2 for months, but finally stopped playing it when I had to restart it for the umpteenth time from the beginning because there is no way to respec and it's one of those "misplace one stat point and you want to kill yourself" games.

Diablo is a hack and slash game for people not hardcore enough to play roguelikes.

They're actually the fastest boss killers in the game if played correctly. They're still not exactly easymode though.

Necromancers, on the other hand, are watch-TV-while-you-destroy-hell-baal-mode. Even the Maggot Lair can be trivialized if you have Enigma armor, a wand with Teleport, or if you just make liberal use of town portals to reposition your army.

EleDruid is the easiest class to play. You just can't die. You block of any elemental damage with cyclone armor, make the enemies slower with Hurricane, have +150% or even more hitpoints (Oaksage), a mercenery and a grizzly with over 10k hitpoints.

I did, but that was when every point in skeleton gave you 1 more and they didn't do much damage. I haven't played one since then, because it wasn't fun the first time.
