This whole "Reimu accepting donations" crap doesn't even make any sense. How can money exist in the Touhou universe? Who enforces is? Are "donations" supposed to be crap like gold and silver? Reimu's so strong that she can basically take anything she wants anyway, so this whole "donations" thing is retarded.

It is not the monetary value of the coins. Though I don't believe Reimu understands her feelings herself, whenever she gazes longingly at that lonely donation box, it's not simple greed motivating her. There's something very important she can't take by force: she can't feel loved through violence. It is not the monetary value of the donation that matters. It's the feeling behind it.

Reimu's a very lonely girl.

Because they're retarded. It's the same reason that Rumia could just go on a massive genocide of the human race, but doesn't.

A lot of the youkai are either stupid or just too good natured, so they can be exploited by humans easily. It's the reason the Oni are so annoyed, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them abusing the kappa if it wasn't for their optic camo.
