Just now I realised that Kogasa and Rumia are polar opposites.
>Kogasa is accepted by humans at the village, to the point they even allow her to have a forge there. Rumia, however, is persona non grata number one there.

I don't know if it counts, but I feel that all the protagonists of touhou mangas look alike in their hairstyle. they are all redheads: Kasen, Kosuzu, Sunny Milk, Miyoi and even Satori.
Sunny and Kosuzu especially I feel that they are very alike.

Another thing that I have noticed a lot is the resemblance between characters from Touhou and Puyo Puyo. Again, I don't know if it counts, but Reimu's personality reminds me of compile-era Arle. Marisa is very similar to Witch. Sanae resembles Ringo,. The three light fairies resemble the Banshee Trio. Mystia is like Harpy. wakasagihime looks a lot like Serilly and so on. and I think ZUN is a big fan of puyo puyo, I know that in an interview he said that the first game he programmed was a clone of puyo puyo.

Both the Moriya's and the Myouren's try to make Gensokyo a better place, but the approach is different:
Meanwhile the Moriyas actively help humans, the Myourens seem to try to make youkais stop being serial killers and reform themselves (and if they don't, Gensokyo wont miss one maneating beast). Of course, both temples will not shy away from doing the other's task if needed
Its also remarkable that, despite their theological differences (faith on the gods vs faith on oneself) the two shrines will cooperate with each other with gusto, while actively avoiding Reimu as much as they can

Yumemi doesn't return after PC98 but that grand unified theory shit from Yumemi's backstory is mentioned in Hifuu.
