I don't even know why I'm learning this language. I kept telling myself it was for video games and anime but it doesn't feel like it is. I'm not a complete weeb, I never plan to visit Japan and I'm already married to a white woman so it's not some cwc lovequest shit. I just love how it looks and sounds. It's so aesthetically pleasing on paper or signage. The language looks and sounds the way freshly printed books and trading cards smell. I haven't even told anyone I'm learning, it's like an embarrassing secret. The aesthetics alone are so good it's driving my efforts despite what feels like every other word bring a comically pronounced loan word. I don't know what I'll even use it for once I have even a little fluency. What the fuck is wrong with me

Guys I dream to use my tablet as reading tool but it's just painful. Using yomichan with kiwi browser is fucking joke as you lose ability to select text to copy it to a real translator. Then I found Kaku which is good for OCR and then copying text into translator but another pain that Google Translate's "Tap To Translate" is fucking stupid, I hate that I have to enter settings every time to enable it, when I'm done I don't want to have annoying icon in notifications. I thought maybe I could use android quick actions to launch tap to translate but this shit doesn't work either. I just want handy way to translate texts to check whether I understood it or not. >.<

i did that when i just began, i think just learning them as you come across them is probably better, i memorized a ton of words i had no idea what they meant or how they were used, just checking things down a list, and it was much harder to memorize them than later when i just mined what i actually saw/heard which always come with context and a mental image

I just started recently and while right now I'm just trying to memorizes the alphabets and basic words I have to ask,
how hard was it to get used to having no spaces between words?

The idea that letters can just flow together without any break was the biggest filter for me trying to learn it sooner and I'm still dreading having to deal with it when I get to the level of basic sentences.
