Greeting again /jp/, you know the drill.
In this third thread we talk about Key, the most loved/hated eroge company, many of you have at least played one of their translated games, especially Canon.

Key's VNs ranges on wide number of themes, but some things are unchanged.
The high school setting, the mistery behind it and the deep analysis of the characters and their problems.
But they're also well know for the way the love to generate plot devices and drama, mostly magic and contrandicting stances bringing a fracture in a relationship.
Some people considers Key's brutal reality of offering bittersweer endings a good way to still enjoy a VN while having your own feet on the ground, while other people still would prefer having happy ends with smiles and family to escape from the depressing reality.

I like KEY, but honestly, their characters interactions can be a bit... superficial. Not just sometimes, this is the case in most of their releases. Sure, it makes for nice comedy, but you could also say that their characters are stupid. It doesn't help that they're supposed to be geniuses in the context of the story.
There's also the same themes and character archetypes they use(Planetarian is exception to this, thankfully). And with five games(I'm not counting Tomoyo After since it's continuation) released in 10 years, they're one of the less productive studios in industry.

Their male characters are great, though. Why isn't KEY making BL games already?
