I think stuffing airtechs and air-to-air are all I'm any good at, haha. I need to practice doing offensive BEs with Komachi, but there's nobody practice that with, nor am I really ever forced to do it. There's a couple things I'm at a loss for since 1.10, though. Komachi gained and lost a lot, and I don't think she's quite as evenly balanced in each department as she was before. I'm considering sharing my main with Sakuya or Reisen, possibly Reimu. They all seem good as of late...

Wait Magister, I still haven't really gotten your opinion yet--what skills/alt skills are good to run with Komachi in v1.10? I'd been thinking of using Soul Splitting Scythe alt. 214, but from what I could tell in your comments to Guy, it sounded like it wasn't all that practical.

Have any of the other alts. been significantly changed to warrant attention? I currently use only Human Spirit Passing By alt. 236 simply for the midscreen 5AA 5/6B 6C 236B 100% limit combo.

I made a lot of test decks, and that was the second bunch I tried just now.

The alt214 that makes timebomb wisps, Lonely Bound Spirit, is pretty good now. At level 2 and higher the explosion becomes ridiculously huge and meaty(really, go try it, it's incredibly large), but you can't stack them and you invest a shitload of spirit placing and detonating them. I really like it, but I had spirit troubles. That deck I was using today had Marisa potions in it to try to fix that problem, but I forgot to take them out when I swapped alts.

I always have Scythe of the Reaper(alt236) in my main deck. I prefer it over the other alt236 because it also limits off of 5AA5B6C, and off random j.2A -> 5A 3A alt236. It's also the only thing she's got that cleanly connects from j.8A. You can still gimmick someone with it the way you would with Human Spirit, just at a fixed(and ludicrously huge) distance, while counting as a laser in density instead of a C bullet. I consider it one of the best moves in the game period.

Like I said, Soul-Splitting Scythe didn't quite go the way I planned, but if you can be conservative enough to keep the soul flow going and consistently end in 214, it does indeed work, since the life souls generated can be either consumed or detonated. They don't really travel once made, they last a long time, and the opponent can't diffuse them, so if they ignore what souls you have, you can explode the entire stage with 2C, cancel into 214C if you're closer than 3/4ths the screen away, and make another batch of still-floating lifesouls for them to not-ignore-this-time while you're at it. You can yank those lifesouls in your general direction with 2[C]B cancels if you need them concentrated, too. It only takes one 2C detonation of a concentrated area of about 15 or so lifewisps before your opponent decides to never go near them again. But again, the problem with this is that it's 214, and you can't make a lot of 5C anymore, so in essence you're just fishing for Soul-Splitting hits, and that's just not me.

I don't like melee alts, but all of Komachi's are good now, and I'm seriously considering Boat of the Sanzu.

Sorry for the long opinions, but hey, you asked for it.

Looks like it's more necessary than ever since 2B can't be used after random j.2A 3A hits near the corner anymore. I have to admit that I never tested Lonely Bound Spirit before because I assumed it was worse than the default 214.

Great games Disco, that was fun. It's rare to find somebody who's fairly evenly matched in random netplay, so I was glad to have some competitive matches. Never played an Iku player, so that was very informative (and painful). I've always been curious to play her, but had no clue where to start really, so I'll look over some of those replays and hopefully pick up a few good tricks.

Had to lol at some of those Iku / Tenshi matches; some pretty OH SHIT moments in those matches. Also, I noticed you were having a bit of trouble connecting some of Remilia's combos there in those last matches, so I don't feel like quite such a loser for not being able to connect those very well either since the patch.

Disagreed. Utsuho's main thing has always been xbauxheug damage. Before, she was just too slow to truly compete, and didn't have enough damage to make up for it. She's a fair bit better now, but I'd hold off on calling her overpowered

Honestly, save for Meiling, I can't think of a real "D" tier character now. All the characters seem quite viable except perhaps her

It's just.. then Tasofro had to go and nerf her combos. And then not buff her damage in any way whatsoever

Seriously, she has to work twice as hard to get the damage output of other characters. It's kind of dumb. She just does not rip an tear enough in melee to justify having such shitty bullets and short range ::/

Just a lonely soul with internet too shitty to compete online, so I live vicariously through discussing hisoutensoku in threads like these, watching replays, and practicing vs custom AIs

That no longer work with 1.10 ;_;

If you'd like a name, you can call me Honshu, but I never play online because of the aforementioned internet issue ::C

I main Alice and play China when I get bored of Alice's fairly conservative playstyle

By the way, did you know that the alt 623BC Tiger's Strength buff no longer fades due to being whacked by an enemy? It's actually kind of awesome in a SDK and DFS skillcard deck now. I saw you mention in another thread that Fierce Tiger's Inner Strength had the same change made to it, so I figured I'd try out the normal skillcard version. I still wish Tasofro would make the B and C versions different, though. Make it so the B version will make the Tiger's Strength charge be used on your next attack, and make it so the C version will only be used up when you use a special attack, like 22BC or 214BC. It'd be so much nicer if it was done that way, since right now using Tiger's Strength is like hanging up a big neon sign saying I'M GOING TO TRY TO SDK OR DFS YOU NOW, so everyone is ready for it ::/

I'm gunna have to try Shui Xing Tai Ji Quan sometime. I've still been trying to get some use out of Colorful Rain. I maintain that it's not bad as Oki, but the bullets really should cause a slightly longer hitstun, especially at level 2 or higher. Oh well, I guess we'll see what 1.11 brings

They're a decent option, but still more of a gimmick than anything else. Extending a combo with the system card and then using a spellcard is about the same damage wise as just comboing into a 5-card. So the way I see it, they're good for squeezing out a crush against a slippery opponent (2AAA stagger 5AAA f.5A 6A sword 2AAA 6A sword etc.), since once you use the sword, some combos just won't land (for example, 5AAAA sword 5AAA 5B 5C hjc9 j.5A j.2A (one hit) j.5C j.214B doesn't work, the j.5C won't connect). I may mess around with them a little bit, but it doesn't seem to add enough damage to really be worth it outside of crushes.

>>4254329
Yeah, I did notice that change. One problem I encountered was that it's hard to utilize against characters who are good at defense. Obviously you get the most damage if you land a powered up SDK or Red Cannon raw on the opponent (I've had it hit for over half the life bar with 4 control rods), but both of those moves are hard to land and easy to punish. The best bet is to land a 3k-ish combo off of a cross-up j.2A while you have the effect. While 3k is low for considering it's 4 cards, 3k off of a cross-up is actually pretty good considering those are one of the easier things to land. It's the same reason I use the 5-card Qi ball; it chains into 2AAAAA, which gives you pretty much an anytime 3k, which is great for finishing up tough matches.

If anyone else has messed around with the sword system card I'd love to hear what you think about it, though.

GGs Deesck, some tips:

Block on wake up. Block when you aren't moving. Block in air when you aren't going gracing forward. Cirno bullets are fast and they will catch you by surprise.

These tips that consist of "block all the time" is just professional grade bullshit.

If you want any chance of winning you need to learn a couple combos and be able to execute them with ease.

There's only so much you can do to sharpen your intuition as far as when to attack and when to use what.

Between two people that strike each other evenly, the one who combos the most will always win. The other one will only 5A which does anywhere from half to a quarter of the damage a well-executed combo does.

Go to the wiki and practice your combos for God's sakes then come back, you're guaranteed to do better.

>> No.4259671

>>4259641
I'm not saying guarding on wakeup is a bad idea, if you don't tech away from where you are then you should almost always guard.

Once the chainblock begins then whip out Iku's card and you'll be on the offense. Every deck needs at least three Iku cards.

>> No.4259682

>>4259641
This. You should know your combos like a rifle drill or you're not gonna be able to get them off in the middle of a fight. You should be able to do it without thinking about it.

Perhaps you can freestyle a bit when you get better but in the beginning you're gonna need those combos.

>> No.4259717

Combos are important, but your priority is misplaced. 'Block a lot' is a bit ambiguous, but the idea is that movement and spacing >>>>> combos. If you knew a 100% combo but could never hit your opponent because he can outmaneuver you, where does that leave you? Differentiating between defense opportunities and offense opportunities and putting yourself in those positions to execute them is the most effective thing you can do, it's just that combos will maximize the damage you get from those situations.

Then stop relying on random flying kicks and guard crushes into spellcards. They are crutches that are holding you back. Even with the damage nerf, you still do them, making you take far more damage than you deal. Learn how to manipulate the opponent and keep pressure on instead of throwing it all away for a chance at some cheap damage.

>> No.4259821

>>4259717
It'd be silly for you to do that. Why waste 3 card slots for defense when you don't play defense? Those 3 could be used offensively instead, which is your strength.

At any rate, Iku reversal cards are a mixed bag. Some characters absolutely sucked when using them (back in v1.03, might be different in v1.10). I remember playing a set against E-MAN where I won two games by trading hits with him when he used that card.

yes, very much.

Your default b and b6 offer really good protection against being meleed in the air as you graze forward. There's a lot of other things in here that are useful too but it'd take too long to list them. Reisen is one of my favorite touhous but her playstyle doesn't suit me very well. Having the elixer cards nerfed from 15 to 5 percent doesn't help.

Haha, good games as always Duckator! Oh man, did that alt Yuyuko spin attack always have invincibility frames? I kept thinking I landed a hit, only to be slapped by your fan. And, is Suika slip and slide the new loliball? It did absurd amounts of spirit damage on wrong block and it seems to graze too.

>> No.4263537

GGs Claus, I showed you all my decks and it's already almost 3 am. Run over opponent to traps with katamari deck, fall back to corner behind trap and apply spikes everywhere deck, poke and run deck and full air melee deck. Usually against Meiling players I use poke and run.

Watch my orb count, you often backed off when I was about to break, Meiling trick is to apply maximum pressure all the time, move around your opponent so he can't do anything but block, use your bullets to bait a graze and punish accordingly. Meiling is really good at making you believe you are in safe range but hits you when you least expect you.

>> No.4263546

>>4263491
Good games Rabbit. You sure like using 5C with Patchy. Luckily, the bullets are easy to cancel out.
Yeah, the C version of that spin always had invincibility frames and 66B is the new 66C. Unlike loliball it has graze frames all the way through. The only downside to it is that it can't catch anyone in the air.
