Is it too late to become a vocaloid p?

AI art and AI music is taking over. I’ve trained my art skills the past year and learned music production the last 2 years with fl studio.
Planning to debut with a pv with drawings but literally AI just does everything now professionally. I looked on twitter and there are “AI prompt accounts” who got 100k followers just prompting lewd characters, and AI Miku arts get 1000 retweets… how can an amateur creator even compete? Especially when vocaloid scene is already pretty established with fans and p’s… I feel like I’m wasting my time learning these skills but meh I’m autistic anyway so I’ll continue. I was feeling pretty down about music production because I see many ppl I know not very successful even though their songs are fire.

My only hope was becoming a famous twitter artist with Miku art because ppl retweet those slot. But now AI is overshadowing that…
I’ll Probably end up with a 3 song pvs on YouTube, 20 subscribers, and 1000 total views a year after debuting…

Yes music production is my pasion. I love art too but I have horrible time trying to make it. Drawing is NoT fun for me, but when I actually progress and get results I want out of drawing I love it. Most of the time it’s frustration though cause I can’t get it the way I want…

I'm going to tell you two things as a fellow frustrated artists. I will never ever stop trying to make music. My reason for making music is that when I listen to music... I feel alive. I feel alive in a much more tangible way than any other time. Music is to me the meanign of life. And I keep cracking at it, because I need to somehow channel that through me. That's why I want to do my own singing, play my own instruments, compose my own pieces. Because to me being involved in that is important. I want to have those feelings and emotions course through me and that's what's important.

You should do what's important to you. Don't do anything you don't value. And never stop doing what you don't. You are right, samples and loops and presets are very popular. But there are still classical enssembles. Big band bands. Even jazz still feeds people. But AI is very scary. However, music has always been scary. It's always been up to chance. You should know this. I'm sure by know you have a handful of records from bands that only ever put out 1 thing then disappeared into the world that you adore. And you sometimes stay up at night wondering what they're up to. The sad reality is that that will most likely happen to you, no matter how good your stuff is, because it's not up to you, it's up to luck.

But that is true for everyone. Everyone's lives are up to luck. With that in mind. Do what you need to be happy. Because it's all up to luck anyway. Goodnight anon.

In the hypothetical case that you are right and the AI as it is today succeeds, what will become of you? how would you succeed if today you give yourself to the AI and do not continue to polish your artistic skills, keep in mind that AIs are in a phase of receiving human input and its ultimate goal (and I do not say it, the companies that developed them say it) is to achieve autopilot and no longer need human input, so these AIs collect information from the prompts that are inputed to them. what will become of you, a person with no skills and no advantages against the machine?

My AI generated Mikus got over 1500 bookmarks on pixiv and it literally never discouraged me from continuing to make my own drawings that get like 20 bookmarks. After all I am drawing it for my own enjoyment and her, not to get famous. I am also training to become a producer right now as well and I am fully aware I won't become big given how little time I have for that.

Then maybe instead of putting the bar so low, learn to use these tools to create something new and unique? Don't just put static image slideshow, but use these tools in ways others never thought of before? You know, that's kind of what being artist is all about?
Just like digital music opened doors to new musical genres unavailable with previous technology, you can use AI to push art into novel directions. I also planned to incorporate some AI tools into PVs once I get to the point of making them.

I think the problem is that you're chasing a gimmick. Don't be a Vocaloid producer, be a producer who knows how to use Vocaloid.
Learn fundamentals about drawing or music production and then apply those to make Miku stuff.
Also learn how to network and interact with your local music community if you have the chance.

The other thing I don't really get is the need to make 500K or being famous desu, lots of accomplished musicians are happy playing at bars because they fucking enjoy making music. If your aim is to make stupid amounts of money then go to trade school or something like that....

Also, regarding AI, next to my computer I have a handmade Mob Psycho drawing. A print would probably be more "perfect", but I'd rather have an actual drawing because I appreciate handmade things. Context is hugely important when judging art. For some reason people who praise AI stuff tend to forget that.

Make your debut, it's gonna be imperfect but that's okay. Keep making stuff, focus on networking and improving your technique.

It started in 2012 when I heard English Miku was releasing. I was one of the first to post an English Miku song. it got 1000 plays on YouTube then stopped.

I was naive and young and felt embarrassed cause I thought I’d be famous off one song like Supercell lol, so I deleted my online profile and trained more. (songs still on nnd)

2014 I tried to release Miku EP under a new name. I paid for art and everything. dokidokitunes on BC if you wanna look it up lol,

but I realized my songs and mixing were bad.
I got embarrassed and dropped the profile again lol

In 2015 I briefly created a miku song for a contest, then when I didn’t win I deleted my profile…again… orz

In 2016 I started a new profile.
This time I learned my lesson and figured out what music I wanted to make.
I told myself I was going to stick to it.
In 2017 I deleted that profile after making about 12 songs on SoundCloud lol

In 2018 I created temp name just to enter a Miku contest, didn’t win. Dropped name.

i have some videos with low views that stay up forever. my own feelings don't really matter because i didn't upload those videos expecting millions of people to watch them. some of them actually have been watched by millions of people, and that's great but i never expected it to happen. i don't treat youtube like it's social media. i put these videos up online for myself and to link to a couple of friends. whatever happens after that point -- i don't care. it stays online.

yes, i watched the Tokyo live set on blu ray. There were like 4-5 diffferent songs right? My favorite are probably Hand in Hand and Decorator, they are definitely not recent but i just love these Livetune tracks. My most favorite recent track would probably be Vampire and Dreaming chu chu could be my most favorite Megurine track.

I have a soft spot for Livetune too, his songs are great concert material. MM2015 was the first show I watched and Tell Your World became an instant favorite for me (also happened to be my first perfect on Project Diva F).
Vampire was great too but I'm still warming up to the R3 model. The AR camera shots are really cool though, especially when you can see the crowed from behind the singer.

But judging from few replies I got on /g/ it's best player out there. You can also purchase it on its website to skip the play market fee IIRC.

The only downside is that it doesn't integrate all that great with some standard android systems for music stats if you are into heavy ricing, but at least it exposes the necessary intents so I just used Tasker to interface KLWP with it.
