Masks will no longer be required from April. Japanese people always want to be in sync with the group, so if everyone around you is wearing a mask, you will also wear one.

Few people in Japan criticize the Meiji Restoration. Most of the people who started the revolution were young people, and I respect them. In today's Japan, it is unthinkable because old people rule Japan.

>How come you guys always vote for the same party?

The reason is that parties other than the LDP are too untrustworthy. The LDP has its bad points, but no other party is good enough to be in power. The Japanese people love tradition, which is why they tend to like the LDP.

It definitely is also a Japanese thing. Because the thing stays alive after getting filleted proves the skill of the chef.
Like that one octopus video, or frog sashimi, it's a novelty in both China and Japan, however, not an "everyday" occurrence.

Yeah, the young people in the night life areas are already mostly not wearing masks.
But as a whole mask wearing isn't going to stop in April. Most people in Japan don't even find it a chore or annoying to wear a mask and a small percentage of the population were already wearing masks every day before covid.
If people around you wearing masks makes you uncomfortable, Japan isn't going to get much more welcoming.

Is it worth having a vacation there?

I'm sitting on like a few $10k's saving and just want to die and I'm tired of work. I keep thinking about going to Japan for a week or two, but I really don't even know what I'd do while there. I never go on vacation except when I was younger with my family, and I just kind of tagged along, and even then we only went out of country one time.

I just like weeb shit so I kinda want to visit the home of said weeb shit. But outside of picking up a few art books and stuff, I can't really think of anything to do. Maybe if there was like an im@s thing going on I'd like to drop by but also can't speak any more nip than I learned in my 3 years of high school.

Is it worth going? Anything yall would recommend doing while there?

Also I'm halfu korean, how fucked would I be and how much would they expect me to nip?

Obvious and oft-repeated bureaucratic stuff aside, how difficult is it to buy property out in the inaka if you're a foreigner? A small town would also be fine though I'd worry about making my neighbors uncomfortable, even with my efforts to learn the language.

My stupid dream is to buy land and have a little home away from the city but still within a reasonable distance from a train station so I can go to civilization if I need to.

In addition to that, are there telecomms services out there? My present job is working by remote so having an internet connection is paramount.

Not OP and not Japanese, but a girl whose family was trying to impress me brought me to a restaurant that served lobster once. The chef was making the food on the table where we sat (some parts of the table on his side were heated). I remember being completely revolted when they brought out the lobster in a basket. It was cut into pieces, but the whole basket was still crawling and twitching. And no one even reacted. I just looked into their blank faces and thought "Holy shit, we really are different, aren't we? Despite all the normal conversations we've had, our shared hopes and dreams, irritations and love for music. We're just not the same, even if they have souls and intellect in abundance."
