If you have a flashcart, you have a lot of opportunities, as DS can play NeoGeo roms. There's also the homebrew Touhou game (and engine so you can make your own) made by anoNL which gets closer to the real game with each release.

I saw a japanese hack that allowed play in a PSP, the framerate was quite stable too. I heard that the hack was never released though, so I never tested it.

That's right, you can also play VNs on the DS. It's perfect for them, with the "visual" on the top screen and the "novel" on the bottom. Not to mention you can change font and size of the text.
