If you ended up in Gensokyo, which 2hu (or 2hus) would you like to be trained by to survive and thrive in this land and why?

I would choose three - Youmu as my experience with European swordsmanship would give me a foundation to build on, Meiling - I'd like to cover for my relative lack of hand to hand experience and lastly - Patchy to teach me the basics of magic,I could provide her with some recent scientific developments in the outside world as an exchange.

The ones that know magic that you can learn from books. A human can never naturally be nearly as strong as a strong oni or a tengu, so no point in learning how to fight physically. For that to be generally viable, you'd need to find a way to somehow augment your inherent relative weakness like Byakuren did with magic, at which point you might as well go all the way and just focus purely on magic.

Alternative choices to this would be to learn whatever magic Reimu and Sanae use to bully youkai, or picking a 2hu who can directly make you powerful like Okina or Eirin, assuming they would agree to such a thing.

Probably yuugi(extreme physical training), Youmu(melee weapons and such because there is no way you can beat a youkai hand to hand combat) and Reimu(sacred papers, charms, holy and antiyoukai stuff). No actual magic stuff because human supremacy and I am not becoming a seudo youkai

I don't feel like there is much an oni would be able to offer a human in terms of training. Much of their strength is innate and they would probably have no idea how to instruct someone who doesn't have that. They don't strike me as being who need to exercise or train to maintain that either. Probably better off going to someone like Byakuren who was once a human herself and understands better than a youkai how to cover for that weakness.

I'm very interested in magic, so I'd propably try to go for that. Marisa for basics, and to have some insight into how she does things related to gathering materials, survival etc. Then I'd propably try to convince Patchouli to teach me the advanced stuff, and if she refuses I'd ask Alice or go back to Marisa or anyone else that's wiling to teach me anything. Ellen has a magic shop and she's propably still around, right? Maybe I'd join one of the religious groups just to get what I want too.
After getting comfortably powerful, so that I can hold my own against an average youkai in danmaku I'd make a small business as a bodyguard for any human that wants to wander Gensokyo. Get to the Moriya shrine, get to the Hakurei shrine, visit a scenic outlook, all comes with Anon guarantee of survival™. With a little paid youkai "extermination" by danmaku on the side if I can get away with it, but not too often. Mainly just for show, beat the youkai, tell her to stop attacks for some time, bask in the exterminator glory, raise some spirits. I'd want to invest in a sword for the style and to base my attacks off of. Maybe two for that witcher vibe. Silver for monsters, steel for humans (or animals. Or fairies, heard fae beings are allergic to iron). I guess I could train with Youmu then, if she would have time to do that.

Yumemi Okazaki is definitely the correct choice, she definitely can take the role of a teacher. She's a literal college professor who invented her own magic and it's even more powerful than patchouli's or marisa's magic, not only that but she's completely an outsider human so she's in the same boat as i am. Eventually i plan to become her assistant and help her conduct experiments, although i will probably have to compete with Chiyuri for recognition.
She will not only teach me to be powerful but will also teach me advanced physics and mathematics which i'm very interested in, she's definitely far behind many 2hus in terms of both power and intelligence all while being human.

Well, asuming for roleplay that the language barrier is not an issue, the human village would be the point of start, get a job in suzuuna, help kosuzu, entertaint her with stories of the outside world, head pat her.
I am a Staunch Catholic, so magic and witchcraft is out of the question (but not the understanding of how chemical reactions work in elemental magic), i will make a hidden altar in my rented room and entrust my self to christ and solicite the name of my lesser guardian angel and some imbued knowledge of Saint Ferdinand III of Castile (patron of the Spanish Army's Corps of Engineers) and St. Albert the Great(patron of scientists, philosophers, medical technicians, natural sciences)

begin workin in side projects of blacksmith and gunsmith, make extra money in carpentry, make some blessed self defense non lethal weapons and in venture in the unknown, with luck i could interchange engineering data with nitori, buy one of those yamawaro muskets for later disassemble, have tea with kasen while we talk about Lao tsu, visit Kourindou and laugh internally about the ramblins of Rinnosuke (hell he is one of the few name male characters, he could be a Bro with time)
pretty much chillsokyo if you dont go out of your way to be an ass to the general polulation (or if Yukari/okina have a particular hatred/distaste for monotheist, if so things will get Dangerous really fast)

I'd go to Byakuren to learn her brand of magic since discarding my humanity for power sounds right up my alley. I wouldn't even mind training as a monk too if she wanted me to. I just hope I don't have to shave my head since I like my hair but if that's the cost of power then so be it. After I have sufficient control over the power I guess I'd do missionary work for the temple. My end goal was always to just be strong enough that I can go sight seeing anyways.

Hmm I'm not to sure. As a primary teacher maybe I'd try to see if I could find Kasen and see if I can convince her to take me as a student. Hermitdoms hard to achieve but seems to be possible for most any human as long as they have the will to put in the work. I dont think Miko and the Ten desires cast actually teach people despite taking disciples and Seigas way to evil and a risk for getting zombified. Perhaps for the other two I'd try to find patchouli to learn magic from. I'd say byakuren but she probably wouldn't be very welcoming to a novice hermit trying to learn from her. Or spend the whole time trying to convert them to Buddhism instead.
As for a third maybe Meiling? She wouldn't be to hard to get to and she might appreciate someone to break up the monotony of guarding the front gate of the mansion.

Overall I'd probably try to not make to many waves and do my best to learn all I can and integrate as well as I can into the land I'm in maybe try and make friends with my teachers and 2hus that are associated with them.

But if we were going for the nitty gritty "Every Detail Matters" scenario I would be choosing the gun bnuuy Reisen, an understated factor of her ability to control Wavelengths gives her a limited ability to read others. Suit yourself, but no amount of training could prepare you for what's waiting in Gensokyo. Your best bet would be to have a powerful ally. Yukari just so happens to fit the criteria since she lives relatively close by and won't go out of her way to kill humans. At most she'll probably scare you with visions of unfathomable horror. Another good choice would be Hecatia, but she lives in Hell so that would complicate things.

beeline towards the SDM and then work under Patchouli/squat in her library (without being a nuisance). Also a swordsman but i consider it less important than magic as physical altercations have been replaced by danmaku. (Would still want my blade for trips around incase of more mundane threats like snakes and whatnot)

Also introduce myself to Reimu (wiith a small donation first of course), the religious leaders and the various sages. Hecatia is apparently my family's patron goddess so i think she'd help me and ZUN said she is the strongest so i'm feeling a little better about my chances in general. Lastly, visit Rinnosuke and keep an eye out for Sumi to send a message to the outside world that i'm alright and they don't have to worry about me anymore.

Realistically I think id choose Byakuren . Learning how to enhance my own strength with magic while also being in a safe environment would probably help a lot in the end while also staying in shape. The only issue I see isnt so much the training but its the fact Byakuren is really hot so i dont think id be able to focus at all since id just be looking at her massive buddist tits seriously what was zun thinking when he was designing her I feel really guilty having lewd thoughts of her because shes so devote there's never a chance id have with her.
I guess a second option if I cant keep it down are probably the kappas since Engineering is something I know a decent amount of.

Danmaku is more of a conflict resolver and seems to be a thing primarily for the girls to do.
At the end of the day if your strolling through the woods and a youkai gets some funny thoughts they're going to kill you with their power which is where training comes in. Being able to hold back at least low tier youkai physically is an essential skill if you want to be able to enjoy the land freely
Ignore the neighsayers that go 'but muh physical resilience' that youkai apparently have, myths and legends are chock full of tales of people BTFOing worse with balls, wit, and mundane weapons

Patchouli for sure. Being her apprentice comes with room and board, relative safety, and a library with all the reading material you'll need. The main hurdle is actually getting her to take on an apprentice in the first place.
I can't imagine she'd be willing to take time away from her personal study to put in the years required to turn a baseline human into a magician for nothing, but I'm not sure what I would be able to offer her when she already has familiars and mansion staff to do basic chores and run errands. Promising to be her underling after becoming a magician is more or less all I can think of, but I don't think she would find a magician underling very useful when she can probably send Sakuya to gather ingredients or buy relevant materials anyways.

For the civilized youkai for sure but there's a lot that aren't which is where the danger comes in and my point that you'd be better served in training up some physical stats with some kind of weapon.
Of course getting either magic or the favor of a God or gods to use danmaku would be best but as a human thats a tall order.
Honestly gun really trumps all but a good pointy stick with an iron or steel head works wonders too along with a charm or two from the Hakurei

They literally do - not intentionally, but their pranks can be lethal since they don't understand the danger of death, it's mentioned as one of dangers from them to humans. Sooner or later you'll die caught in fairies' games, possibly before being accidentally mutilated.

You people always talk as if fairies set up elaborate Joker style traps. Fairies *can* get you killed. But they don't try to be as lethal as they can, they're ultimately little girls, trying to have some fun. As long as you're aware of the danger they can potentially pose and apply just a smidge of caution they're literally not a problem. Hell, the average roaming youkai is a far higher threat, and they too can be bribed by throwing out some sweets or talking them down.
