How is it different from the others?

New routes, or just minigames?

Tokemeki Memorial Thread

Mother of all that is VN

It came out on the:

PC Engine (TurboGrafx16)
Playstation
Super Famicom (SNES) (yes in that order, wtf @ post-playstation SNES release)
Sega Saturn
PC
Gameboy Color
Cellphone
PSP
Playstation Store (PS3)

Has anyone beaten it? I have it and have barely played any of it. My Japanese is alright to understand the intro dialogues but I dunno...can I make it with Shiori?

>> No.4214250

For such a legendary series, translations are lacking. I remember there was a SNES translation once that I could never get to work.

You can stumble your way in, but japanese is prefered. Choices could be reduced to Bad, Just Friends and Saying what she wants to hear.

>>4214250
It has very basic, easy to understand japanese at times. The translation itself would not be hard. Hacking it into the game is the problem.

It's split ala Pokemon into two versions, Culture and Sports.

Culture has Mio, Yuina, Ayako, Mira, Yuko, Yumi, and one new girl, and you can only join the Literary, Science, Art, and Band clubs (there's no Drama Club or Computer Club; also, the Band is a brass band like the disc versions, not a rock band like on the SFC)

Sports has Saki, Nozomi, Yukari, Megumi, and two new girls, and you can only join the Baseball, Soccer, Tennis, Swimming and Basketball clubs.

Both versions have Shiori, Miharu and Rei.

A few bits of dialogue here and there are actually voiced--e.g. each girl's first line when you meet her. The voices are pretty low quality and all animation has to freeze completely while playing them, but hey, it's digital speech on an 8-bit Game Boy.

Is it a pain to read?

Well, look at the OP screenshot. The font is a bit weird with kanji much bigger than the kana (like some early SFC RPGs), and it has to scroll a ton since there are only 2 lines in the window, but I've seen worse.

I dunno, is this hard to read?

well it's kinda cheating the GBC screen would never be that bright.

>> No.4215698

>>4215687
A real GBC has quite a bright gamma ramp. It's only when you play GBC games on a GBA that the screen gets super-dark.

>> No.4215818

>>4215698
Still a pain on the itsy bitsy screen it had.

Would rather play it on Super Famicon/SNES.
