I was wondering: are there any games (particularly browser games) where all you pretty much do is wander? Perhaps in a complex network of tunnels or in vast underground caverns? Any where you could also customize your avatar? Or just really any open-ended exploration games in general, I'm open-minded. But seriously I would love a game where all you do is run through tunnels as a huge-breasted naked woman and build obelisks.

You might be interested in Wurm Online; it is somewhat popular on /v/ as "the closest thing there is to Dwarf Fortress online", in that you can dig insanely deep tunnels, clear-cut forests and build islands one bag of sand at a time. Or stumble around in the dark, fall off a cliff into a patch of thistles, stave to death and get eaten by a bear.

From your wanderer's perspective, there are lots of abandoned towns and and shit to see, and the graphics are surpisingly good if you turn the settings up.

Yeah, you can do all of that free; there are some things you have to be a paying member to do (the PvP server, basically). You can cut down trees, dig tunnels, make buildings and such for free; you can even steal tools, wagons and catapults that people leave around on the ground as long as you're outside of the starting cities.

Perhaps I was looking for something that isn't really a "game", per se. Third person, where the avatar is visible, and in an environment much like Second Life except non-commercialized and without the gay.

I actually tried Wurm Online. It was too slow and you couldn't see the avatar, but it still seemed really cool. Kind of sucked that it didn't work out.
