Man I fucking hate Japanese. Every time I try to learn it I get burned out and frustrated.

The biggest issue to me is I feel like I have to study for months before I can even have any hope of actually using the language. Like I have to get basic grammar, and get a decent vocab before I can do anything like read the most basic of things or be able to watch a literal kids show.

So it’s just month of learning meaningless things before I can even do anything even slightly interesting. It just feels like I have to throw away the next few months to even be able to do anything and I can’t figure out how to keep motivation for investing hours a day for that long.

It’s not even the time investment to me it’s that none of it will be even mildly interesting for months.

Like idk if I’m learning Linux or some shit, I’m actually using Linux the whole time and can actually do thing immediately as I learn. If I’m learning about history, the information itself is the thing I’m learning and is generally interesting on some level.

With Japanese I feel like I have to learn about Japanese for months before I can even start to do basic tasks with it. Obviously that’s just the way it is but god it’s fucking boring and frustrating as hell with no pay off for months.

Innocent corpus is a frequency list, it just tells you how commonly used a word is, it can be pretty helpful to tell if a word is worth mining or not.
JMdict is English definitions, you need that.
JMnedict is for names and locations, it is usually obvious when a word is a name or location, no point learning them until you are intermediate or above, you don't need it for now.
Kanjidic tells you how kanji are read and the meanings, pretty helpful, worth using.
Kanjium pitch accents tells you the pitch accent of a word, beginners don't need it but some passive exposure to it doesn't hurt, worth leaving on.
KireiCake is for slang words, it can be a bit redundant. turn it off if there is too much clutter.
